Ideally suited for a retired manufacturing professional with deep industry experience who is looking for a meaningful part-time engagement.

Role Overview Char Power LLC is seeking a reliable, experienced Facility Operations Manager to oversee daily operations at our Des Moines site. We are looking for an individual with a strong background in manufacturing who can bridge the gap between production operations and our external logistical needs. The successful candidate will act as the primary point of contact for vendor deliveries and customer interactions, ensuring our facility runs safely, efficiently, and professionally.
Key Responsibilities Vendor & Customer Relations:
Serve as the professional face of the facility. Coordinate with vendors and supply partners regarding scheduled deliveries (e.g., feedstock management) and interface with customers to maintain positive, ongoing relationships.
Logistics & Delivery Oversight:
Manage the intake and dispatch process. Ensure all incoming feedstock and outgoing material deliveries are tracked accurately and handled safely.
Facility Safety & Organization:
Maintain the facility's high standard of safety, cleanliness, and organization. Ensure daily operations align with established company protocols for workspace maintenance.
Operations Coordination:
Work closely with the existing Director of Operations and Engineering team to support daily production workflows, monitor facility KPIs, and address site-specific operational needs as they arise.
Communication:
Act as a local liaison for facility-related inquiries, ensuring timely and clear communication with both internal leadership and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills Manufacturing Expertise:
Proven experience in a manufacturing environment. An understanding of production flow, safety compliance, and operational logistics is essential.
Relationship Management:
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage professional relationships with diverse groups, including local vendors, business partners, and delivery personnel.
Reliability:
We are seeking a dependable individual who takes pride in maintaining a well-ordered facility and who can operate independently.
Local Presence:
Must be based in or near Des Moines and available to be on-site as required.
Adaptability:
Ability to troubleshoot minor operational hurdles and coordinate effectively with the management team.
