A Facilities Specialist or Coordinator is in charge of building and equipment maintenance, building security systems, emergency plans, often for specific buildings only. May be involved in planning of new facilities. Acts as contact person between employees and outside contractors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for all grounds keeping at the Main YMCA and Child Care Buildings. Including keeping all entries, walkways clean and free of any debris or trash. Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, part time/seasonal staff for mowing and snow removal. Assists/leads maintenance team for timely snow removal, and upkeep at all YMCA facilities. Will personally be mowing around certain areas of the facilities, on a stand-up mower. Assists Director in all facility and vehicle/mower/equipment maintenance, including planning, developing and implementing preventative maintenance. Assists in ensuring that all equipment is maintained and operated in a safe manner in accordance with the policies and procedures/best practices of the YMCA. Recognizes and discusses with Director, any risk, implications, and possible outcomes before taking action. Assists Director in repair work and projects in a timely manner. Helps monitor contractors that work in the facility and grounds. Assists in working with outside agencies such as fire, health, building depts., etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to all facilities and grounds. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS
Pay based on experience Education or experience in facility maintenance/grounds or a related field preferred. Three or more years of experience in maintenance/grounds or closely related field preferred. CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of hire. Working knowledge/experience of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance- related areas, preferred Skills in supervision, may be supervising/working with other part time staff. Willingness to attend a "POOL" certifications. Ability to have a current license to drive with record that meets YMCA standards. Familiarity with computers helpful. Computerized building system. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations. Flexible 40 hour schedule, to meet the needs of the organization.
