  • Full-time Job Overview The Athol YMCA is looking for a Facilities Director to help us provide a beautiful and safe environment to our members, staff, and community. The Facilities Director position directs the maintenance and custodial operations of the assigned Facilities and Camps
  • including preventative maintenance.
Under their responsibilities, the Facilities Director is an on call during business hours, seven day a week position. The Director must be available for all contingencies or ensure appropriate emergency coverage of the facility at all times. Responsibilities Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas. Skills in supervision, budget management and project management. Ability and current license to drive with record that meets YMCA standards. Familiarity with personal computers helpful. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations Bachelor's degree in facility management or a related field or equivalent or Three or more years of experience in facility management or closely related field. "POOL" certifications required within 120 days of employment. CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of hire. YMCA Team Leader certification preferred. Skills Provides overall coordination of facility and property maintenance, including planning and developing preventative maintenance schedules and the coordination of contracted custodial services. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs assigned staff and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner. Oversees all contractors that work in the facility and grounds. May request and review bids, and recommend selection of contractors. Assume primary responsibility for the efficient operation of the pools. Ensure the highest safety and health standards in the administering and control of pool chemicals and filter operations. Maintain a current Certified Pool Operator certification. Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building depts., etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds. Ensures the highest standard of safety for themselves and their staff at all times. Follow all safety regulations in accordance with OSHA and all other industrial safety guidelines and procedures. Manages department budgets and forecasts to support the preventative and annual maintenance plans and monitor expenditures. Ensure the proper upkeep and cleanliness of facility grounds, including but not limited to lawn care, snow removal and ice control. Maintains adequate inventory of housekeeping cleaning supplies and replacement parts for equipment that may be required by the Branch Updates facility plans periodically. May develop annual plan of capital projects, consistent with the YMCA's strategic plan and community needs. Promptly responds to members, visitors and staff requests, concerns and complaints with intention of maintaining relationships and reinforcing our culture. Responds to emergency calls; requires availability 24/7 unless otherwise arranged with Executive Director. Provides direct maintenance, repair, and janitorial support to facilities and grounds as necessary. Perform night and weekend hours as needed or directed by the Executive Director. Works collaboratively on maintenance projects with other branches in the Association as needed. Provide support of the Y's charitable giving, including the Partner with Youth Campaign and special events resulting in achievement of the Association and Branch philanthropic goals. Provide support to the Diversity and Inclusion Global Network in order to achieve our goals, mission, and vision. Participates in staff meetings and other committee meetings are required. Other duties as assigned. Required Certifications CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of hire. "POOL" certifications required within 120 days of employment. Ability and current license to drive with record that meets YMCA standards.
