Job Description

Overview of the PositionSkilled manual, administrative, and supervisory work relating to the care and maintenance of the Smith Vocational and Agricultural High Schools buildings, surrounding grounds, systems, equipment, and all other related work as required. The Facilities Director is on call seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day to respond to building, and grounds.

Primary FunctionsResponsible for all aspects of the maintenance and care of SVAHS buildings, grounds, farm, and related equipment, including supervision of custodial support personnel.

Develop, recommend, and manage a facilities budget in collaboration with the School Business Administrator.

Responsible for the care and maintenance of all equipment relating to the school, including vehicles, tools, controls, etc.

Responsible for the maintenance of necessary records including contracts, financial accounts, budgets, purchases, and federal, state, and local reports (including pest management and asbestos management).Collaborate with the School Business Administrator to prepare bid packages for building projects, assist with evaluating bid results, and formulate recommendations for approval.

Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all buildings, electric, telephone, and mechanical equipment, heating systems, boilers, and air compressors.

Maintain and repair plumbing, heating, controls, and time clocks on campus.

Responsible for all alarms in all buildings: turning off by 5:30 a.m. on weekdays, responding to alarm calls, and ensuring proper maintenance.

Responsible for the operations and repairs of all boilers and heaters on campus.

Responsible for managing, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating all custodial staff. Manage all campus facility use requests from outside agencies, groups, and vendors.

Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director regarding the scheduling and management of on-campus athletic fields and courts.

Responsible for school buses, including their scheduled use and required maintenance.

Responsible for all buildings and grounds, activities on weekends and holidays.

Attend and present at Board of Trustees Meetings as directed by the School Business Administrator. Performs other duties as assigned by the School Business Administrator.

Other FunctionsWork collaboratively with other administrators maintaining the mission of the school and maintaining progress in reaching the School Improvement Plan Goals.

Maintain best practices through professional networking and professional development opportunities.
