Overview We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Manager to lead our recycling operations. In this role, you will oversee daily facility activities, ensure safety compliance, and optimize the handling of recyclable materials. Your leadership will drive efficiency, uphold environmental standards, and maintain a safe working environment for all team members. Duties The MRF Manager is responsible for overseeing daily Material Recovery Facility (MRF) operations, including employee supervision, safety compliance, equipment maintenance coordination, production performance, quality control, and regulatory compliance. Leads staff development, managements operational efficiencies, and works collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, and customers to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective processing Qualifications Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with the ability to maintain insurable driving status. Previous experience in Material Recovery Facility (MRF) operations, solid waste management, recycling, manufacturing, or a related industrial environment. Six (6) years of progressively responsible technical and administrative experience, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory or leadership role. Experience supervising employees, managing work schedules, resolving operational issues, and leading teams in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as experience maintaining records, preparing reports, and managing operational data. Knowledge of workplace safety programs and safe operating procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices. Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, forklifts, front-end loaders, roll-off trucks, and collection vehicles. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand equipment operations, maintenance requirements, and basic troubleshooting. Knowledge of material processing, recycling systems, solid waste management practices, transfer operations, and environmental compliance requirements. Familiarity with hazardous materials regulations and applicable federal, state, and local environmental standards. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), inventory tracking, purchasing, payroll review, and budget management. Ability to work safely in outdoor and industrial environments under varying weather conditions and physical demands. Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, walking, climbing, and routine facility inspections. Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement efforts and identify opportunities to enhance safety, efficiency, and operational performance. - Minnesota Paid Leave (MNPL) is a state program that provides job protected, paid time off.
Eligible employees can receive partial wage replacement for up to 12 weeks of medical leave and 12 weeks of family leave (with a combined maximum of 20 weeks per year). The paid leave benefit is provided through a private plan administered by MetLife. Employees pay 50% of the premium cost through a small payroll deduction while the employer pays the other 50%.
