  • Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Facilities Space Planning Manager and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
  • Responsibilities
  • The Facilities Planning Manager at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating facility related work requests, space planning, and support processes to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient functioning across WIPP offices, support buildings, and operational areas.
The role blends strategic facility planning and oversight, process development, and coordination of move and space management activities.
  • Key Responsibilities and Facility Oversight
  • Strategic Facilities Planning
  • + Develop and implement systems, standards, and processes to improve facility operations and space utilization.
+ Lead long‑range planning for workspace allocation, renovation, and infrastructure needs. + Coordinate planning for personnel moves, building layouts, and facility planning essential to meet long-term mission objectives. + Supervise core office and facility support functions including space allocation, office moves, work requests, and furniture requests and upgrades. + Develop a site facilities master plan for long-term planning purposes. + Facilitate space assignments for all departments (town and site buildings). + Control building layouts and space assignments to be made available for all project personnel. + Coordinate identification of all personnel locations assigned in site buildings, trailers, and town offices. + Perform regular walk downs of facilities to maintain awareness of space needs and identify issues. + Regularly coordinate with all departmental stakeholders to identify ongoing space needs + Enhance conference room scheduling process. + Ensure facility operations comply with DOE, site, environmental, and safety requirements + Ensure services meet WIPP operational, administrative, and regulatory requirements.
  • Project & Workflow Management
  • + Establish schedules, standards, and progress monitoring for all facility planning activities. + Guide development and implementation of workflow improvements. + Support creation and oversight of move‑management guidance and documentation.
  • Cross Functional Coordination
  • + Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Security, IT, Communications, Project Management, Procurement, Engineering, and subcontractors.
+ Coordinate closely with HR on staffing plans and workspace requirements. + Support facility readiness for onboarding, staffing changes, and organization‑wide moves. + Serve as liaison between
SIMCO/DOE
stakeholders and facility support services.

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills. + Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. + Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. + Ability to work effectively with others, both individually and as part of a team. + Ability to direct others in areas of responsibilities. + Experience/knowledge in budgeting and preparation of work plans. + Understanding of automation systems used in areas of responsibility. + Knowledge of applicable industry and regulatory standards, and of technology, including hardware and software applications applicable to office services. + Ability in organizing and maintaining department filing systems and share drives. + Demonstrated ability in use of document management system. + Experience/knowledge in procurement activities related to procuring and receiving of goods and services. + Contract administration experience/knowledge. + Knowledge of sustainability practices and requirements.
  • Minimum Requirements:
  • + Bachelor's Degree plus ten (9) years' relevant experience or, + Associate's Degree plus fourteen (13) years' relevant experience or, + High School Diploma or equivalency plus eighteen (17) years' relevant experience. + Relevant experience includes Project management and Short range and long-range planning and scheduling
  • Preferred Requirements:
  • + Ten (10) years of experience in a government nuclear environment. + Five (5) years in leadership roles + Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a diverse group of individuals including both internal and external interfaces. + WIPP Experience + Experience with Bechtel policies/procedures

  • _Salary range: $134,030 to $237,594 per year
