A Facilities Manager manages the facilities of a company or organization, including buildings and grounds, equipment, supplies and staff. Oversees maintenance and security of facilities; oversees renovation projects and monitors work to improve energy efficiency, productivity or employee safety. May work in manufacturing and production, or manage hotels, small apartment buildings, trailer parks or recreational facilities.
The Facilities & Grounds Manager is responsible for ensuring that all guest lodging, event buildings, hospitality spaces, and surrounding grounds are clean, functional, safe, and fully prepared for visitors and programs. This role plays a key part in guest satisfaction by supporting event operations, building turnover, and site readiness while performing light to minor maintenance tasks. The Facilities & Grounds Manager supports public and private events through setup and breakdown, coordinates building and space turnovers, monitors facility conditions, and assists with seasonal projects and improvements. This position also provides day-to-day direction to seasonal support staff during event runs and peak activity periods. Essential Responsibilities Facility & Site Readiness Maintain readiness of guest lodging, hospitality spaces, restrooms, event buildings, event areas, and grounds using checklists and walkthroughs before and after use. Conduct routine inspections to ensure cleanliness, functionality, safety, and adherence to organizational standards. Ensure high levels of guest satisfaction and compliance with safety protocols. Building Turnover & Event Support Coordinate and execute building and space turnover work, including staging, linens, trash removal, restocking, and resets. Create and manage recurring turnover tasks tied to event schedules and runs. Own and support public and private events, including: Event setup and breakdown Room and space resets Furniture and equipment moves Inventory movement and returns On-site troubleshooting during event windows Maintenance & Equipment Perform minor repairs and corrective maintenance within skill level, including hardware adjustments, fixture repairs, touch-up painting, basic carpentry, and simple troubleshooting. Monitor facility conditions and promptly report system-level concerns (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, leaks, structural issues) to the Director. Operate and maintain tools and equipment safely and responsibly. Maintain organized storage areas for supplies, linens, consumables, and event/facilities equipment. Track inventory needs and notify the Director when reordering is required. Staff Coordination & Documentation Provide day-to-day task direction to seasonal staff when additional support is needed for events or site readiness. Document completed work, identified issues, and readiness status in the department's tracking system. Prioritize active event runs and utilize the work order system to manage assigned tasks. Communication & Professionalism Represent Lacawac professionally while working in public and guest-facing areas. Communicate courteously and effectively with staff, visitors, and vendors as appropriate. Report major maintenance needs and safety concerns promptly to the Director. Seasonal & Project Work Coordinate with the Director to assist with larger maintenance projects during slower periods or the winter season. Plan and complete projects or improvements for event areas during the winter season or between events when scope and timing allow.
