The ideal Facility Operations Manager for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank understands and is passionate about the organization's mission to provide nutritious food and grocery products to those in need in our 16-county service area. This individual will be a vital component of the Food Bank's leadership team by providing over 8.3 million meals annually to the over 52,000 food insecure people in northeast Iowa. As the Facility Operations Manager, this team member must demonstrate outstanding management, organizational, planning, and implementation skills to optimize distribution practices and develop new opportunities that support the Northeast Iowa Food Bank's strategic plan. The ability to work in a fast-paced and progressive environment will be the key to success in this role, as the Northeast Iowa Food Bank continually strives to work towards closing the Meal Gap in northeast Iowa. This individual will possess strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to develop a culture based on high-performing and empowered teams. The Facility Operations Manager must have a strong sense of initiative to continually improve distribution at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. The Facility Operations Manager is a "working manager" role responsible for the safety, sanitation, and operational integrity of the Food Bank facilities. This position requires equal commitment to technical maintenance and facility cleanliness. You will lead a small team while personally performing hands-on repairs and assisting with warehouse custodial duties. The goal is to maintain a facility that is audit/inspection-ready, safe for staff and volunteers, and efficient for large-scale food distribution. The responsibilities of the Facility Operations Manager include, but are not limited to, the following: Team Supervision & Leadership Provide direct oversight and daily scheduling for the Facilities Maintenance Technician and Office Custodian. Serve on the Food Safety Committee and provide direct oversight for all food safety practices pertaining to maintenance, cleaning, pest control, and preventative maintenance. Oversee and work with leadership to manage capital improvements process of research, recommendation and implementation for building projects, renovations, and equipment acquisition. Work closely with other departments to ensure good communication, processes, and procedures for events, volunteer projects, and coordination of other projects that arise. Support the Northeast Iowa Food Bank's special food and fundraising events as needed. Conduct performance evaluations and manage department workflow through a digital work-order system. Maintenance & Infrastructure Responsible for managing building and equipment maintenance, including building controls, pest control, snow removal, lawn care, and maintenance items. Responsible for managing maintenance contracts of all vendors including mechanical, electrical, fire sprinklers, and freezers, and coolers. This includes ensuring that they are maintained and fixed as needed. Develop, implement, and manage a computerized maintenance management system for the Food Bank. Assists with the development and implementation of written policies and procedures to ensure effective, efficient, and safe operations. Research, procure, and monitor inventory of maintenance parts and supplies. Works alongside Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. Maintain the organization's warehouse equipment (forklifts, electric pallet jacks, floor scrubbers) to reduce repair calls to third parties. Sanitation & Custodial Operations Assist with warehouse and office custodial tasks, including operating floor scrubbers, sanitizing surfaces, managing waste (trash, compost, recycling, pallets). Manage and oversee procuring and mixing of all chemicals, cleaning solutions, etc. In coordination with other departments, ensure the facility meets or exceeds AIB, USDA, and local Health Department standards. Oversee the Office Custodian to ensure administrative areas, breakrooms, and restrooms remain in clean/professional condition. Manage inventories for all cleaning and janitorial supplies. Safety & Compliance In coordination with other departments, train staff in all areas of safety protocols, equipment operation, and food-grade cleaning standards. Responsible for managing access to the building and being on call for after-hour emergency calls. Monitor and manage commercial refrigeration systems (coolers/freezers), ensuring consistent temperature logging for food safety compliance. Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in accordance with AIB and Feeding America standards, in addition to local, state, and federal regulations. Ensuring the Food Bank facility passes inspections and meets all the health and safety standards required. Responsible for implementing, in partnership with staff, the Food Bank's comprehensive food safety program, ensuring compliance with AIB, USDA, OSHA and Feeding America standards. Responsible for maintaining all documentation of AIB, Black Hawk County Health Department, City of Waterloo, State of Iowa, and Feeding America processes and procedures as it relates to compliance. Maintain all facility-related documentation, including safety data sheets (SDS) data sheets, inspection logs, permit/contract renewals, etc. Other Greet, train, and supervise volunteers as well as share the mission of the NEIFB; provide general guidance of projects; assure proper training of volunteers to include specific jobs and safety concerns. Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and appropriately placed. In instances of a federal, state, or locally declared emergency, NEIFB is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all its employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties. Perform other duties as assigned to meet Food Bank needs.Ticket/Specifications:

4-year degree with 3-5 years of experience related to facilities management; combination of education and experience taken into consideration. Knowledge of and experience with building controls and maintenance management software/systems Strong analytical skills with comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical systems Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Proficiency in MS Office software Culturally competent, ability to work with diverse groups and individuals Ability to work nights and weekends Must pass a criminal background check Valid driver's license, safe driving record, current vehicle insurance and ability to use personal vehicle for Northeast Iowa Food Bank business. Forklift certification Ability to perform physical labor as necessary (stand/walk/move for long periods of time, lift up to 50 pounds, work with warehouse equipment)Preferred:
