Job Family Radiological Protection Discipline Radiological Protection Career Level M2 Salary Range $104,940 - $147,168 Note for Salary This is the range within which SRNS expects the majority of qualified candidates would enter this role if offered. Actual offers may be more or less than the amounts shown depending on candidate's qualifications, experience, internal equity, and other factors. Job Family Description Radiological Protection personnel ensure safety by monitoring, evaluating, and controlling radiation hazards in various environments. They use specialized equipment to detect and measure radiation levels, implement safety protocols to minimize exposure risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, they may provide training to personnel on radiation safety procedures and contribute to emergency response plans related to radiological incidents. Discipline Description Provide radiological monitoring of all site activities involving radioactive materials, sources, and radiation generating devices. Interpret and document radiological monitoring data and calculate exposure rates, dose, airborne concentrations, and radioactive environmental releases, and provide instructions for corrective actions when appropriate. Provide guidance to radiological workers and ensure radiological worker compliance with technical work documents.
Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:
Support the assigned Radiological Protection Facility Manager (RP FM) in directing, managing, and integrating Radiological Control Program activities and oversight for the designated facility or area, as defined by the Area Safety & Health Manager. Develop and implement policies that protect the radiological health of site employees. Provide management oversight to ensure that all Federal, State, Company, and Site requirements governing radiation exposure to personnel and the public are met. Major Responsibilities Make safety a core responsibility. Complete required safety training, follow all safety rules, and incorporate safe practices into every task. Stop work immediately if conditions are unsafe or could create hazards. Assist the assigned RP FM in managing and integrating the facility's Radiation Protection Program by coordinating with the Operations Facility Manager to set expectations and maintain communication between the Radiological Protection Department (RPD) and the facility; resolving technical issues; implementing program improvements through Conduct of Operations initiatives; and ensuring that RPD and facility operations personnel comply with requirements in the Site Radiological Control (5Q) Manual. Maintain a general understanding of the facility and its operations. Implement Site and DOE policies by developing and applying facility-specific plans and procedures; reviewing radiation protection policies for regulatory compliance; ensuring the Radiological Protection Program meets rigorous external review criteria for startup and operations; coordinating with other RPD Managers to maintain program consistency; and evaluating procedures and practices for technical accuracy. Ensure full compliance with all Federal, State, Company, and Site requirements to maintain exposures to site personnel and the public ALARA. This includes managing the facility's Radiation Protection Program elements such as Operational Readiness Reviews (ORRs), startup activities, occupational exposure, and contamination control; conducting management walkthroughs and surveillances; contributing to occurrence reports; and preparing formal responses to audits and assessments. Represent the RP Department on radiological control matters both internally and externally, communicating facility positions to oversight and planning groups. Support effective resource planning by developing and managing the facility's business planning systems and coordinating manpower needs through daily and weekly planning meetings with Line Management. Enhance the quality of the facility's Radiation Protection Program by overseeing training and qualification programs for Radiological Protection Inspectors and First Line Managers; approving OJT qualifications; reviewing and approving facility specific training materials; participating in Training Review Committees; identifying program improvement opportunities; implementing improvement processes; and evaluating facility radiological events to share lessons learned. Provide leadership to promote a strong safety culture and total quality environment by enforcing safety meeting attendance, reinforcing good work practices, emphasizing on and off the job safety, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting improvement initiatives. Support personnel management by ensuring compliance with site HR policies; addressing employee concerns, issues, and performance matters; and promoting professional development through training, coaching, and counseling. Required Qualifications Eight or more years of experience (YOE) as an individual contributor in one or more of the roles managed, OR Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus five or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed, OR Master's Degree in a relevant field plus three or more year of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered Must adhere to qualifications and regulations as described in 10CFR835 and

Degree with minimum of 4 years Nuclear related experience, DOE Qualified Radiological Protection First Line Manager with minimum of 3 years of RP Management experience. Job-related education or experience may be substituted on a case-by-case basis. The degree may be used to substitute up to 50 percent of the experience. Can work a Tuesday through Friday schedule. We'd Also Like to See RP work related experience within transuranic and chemical separations facilities.
