Job Description

Position Summary:
The Operations & Facility Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring workplace safety across warehouses, shops, and parking lots, with a focus on PPE compliance, facility audits, safety training, and regulatory reporting. This position plays a key role in conducting routine inspections, safety coaching, and incident investigations while ensuring all facilities comply with OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. PPE & First Aid Supply Management Ensure all warehouse, shop, and parking facilities are stocked with PPE and first aid supplies. Manage relationships with PPE and first aid vendors to ensure timely restocking. Oversee and maintain safety signage, ensuring compliance with regulations. 2. Facility Auditing & Safety Inspections Conduct routine facility safety audits with proper documentation and filing. Own and manage audit follow-ups, ensuring corrective actions are taken. Perform walkthroughs at least once per week, rotating across facilities. 3. Workplace & Driver Safety Compliance Conduct shadow driver observations and safety spot checks to ensure compliance with regulations. Monitor shop safety, ensuring mechanics and tank wash personnel have the proper PPE, lighting, and safety gear. Coordinate with shop and operations teams to maintain up-to-date safety signage in the shop, tank wash, and other facility areas. 4. Training & Safety Coaching Provide safety coaching to employees on workplace hazards and best practices. Conduct safety training for new hires and refresher training for existing employees. Oversee and conduct training on forklifts, man lifts, rail kings, and yard mules. 5. Environmental & Fire Safety Compliance Manage run-off and EPA compliance reporting, including stormwater sampling per permit requirements. Oversee fire system management, including water and alarm systems, permits, and regular inspections. 6. Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions Investigate warehouse personnel injuries and incidents, documenting findings and corrective actions. Enforce corrective action plans for workers who commit safety violations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience in safety and compliance within warehouse, transportation, or industrial operations. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and fire safety regulations. Strong attention to detail and documentation skills for audits and reporting. Ability to coach employees and enforce corrective actions when necessary. Experience conducting facility safety audits and safety training. Familiarity with forklift, man lift, rail king, and yard mule operations. Strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate with Operations, Shop Management, and Safety Teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA 30 certification or equivalent workplace safety training. Experience in stormwater sampling, EPA compliance, and fire system management. Prior experience in warehouse or industrial safety programs. Background in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk and inspect facilities for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs when handling safety equipment. Occasional climbing, bending, and working in varying environmental conditions.
