Job Description

Accomack County is currently recruiting for the full-time position of Solid Waste Facility Manager I or II in the Public Works Department. The purpose of the position is to manage the operation of one of the County's Solid Waste facilities. Employees in this classification perform both skilled and managerial work. Position is responsible for managing the site budget; training and supervising personnel; ensuring safety; scheduling and assigning equipment maintenance; and preparing a variety of records and reports.
Minimum qualifications are:
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by five (5) to nine (9) years previous experience and/or training that includes heavy equipment operation, maintenance, repair, and managing solid waste operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Prior supervisory experience. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with mobile platform devices. The following certifications are required within 18 months of hire date: Waste Management Facility Operator I and II. A valid driver's license is required. Preferred qualifications are : Associate's Degree or higher and/or vocational/technical certification in maintenance and repair, medium or heavy equipment operation; supplemented by ten (10) to fourteen (14) years of previous experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Satisfactory completion of a background check, medical exam including drug screening and DMV records checks are required prior to employment. DMV records check will be performed annually thereafter. $45,244.41 - $58,817.74 per year
