Norfolk, VA Job Details $25 - $33 an hour 4 hours ago Qualifications Laboratory safety Safety training program participation as safety practice Safety regulations Employee relationship building Technical support Data management Safety hazards Safety standard operating procedures Medical terminology Laboratory animal handling Technical Proficiency Teaching Full Job Description This position includes the following duties and responsibilities: Understands and follows all SOPs and Quality Assurance Standards. Aids in writing needed SOPs. Responsible for assisting Project/Program Manager with operational management support. Ensures that staff assigned to each position are trained and proficient with SOPs, policies and guidelines associated with their position. Expectation of familiarity with day-to-day activities, personnel needs, and facility issues Must have experience working with multiple animal species to include nonhuman primates. Must possess strong verbal communication, teaching skills and be knowledgeable of veterinary medical terminology and animal facility operations. Maintain an effective level of communication with the Project/Program Manager Distributes reports as needed to SoBran staff, PI staff and institutional personnel. Assists in developing and maintaining relationships with investigators, their staff, maintenance personnel and SoBran personnel to coordinate activities. Assists in personnel matters in collaboration with supervisory staff to include, but not limited to annual reviews and disciplinary issues. Assists as needed with interviewing and selection of SoBran personnel. Responsible for ordering food and other supplies for the facility Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs.; bend, stoop, climb and stand for a prolonged period. Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Must have experience with husbandry and technical support of rodent facilities, barrier management, Non-Human Primate care, hazard containment, technical proficiency and data management. Must have knowledge and understanding for industry specific workplace safety and accident prevention techniques.
Preferred:
A.A. in Veterinary Technology or B.S. in Biology, Animal Science, or related discipline and LATG level or equivalent training or experience and have 4 years' experience in a laboratory animal facility.
