Full-Time Position Summary The Director of Engineering & Security is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operation of the Engineering and Security Departments. This position ensures the hotel's physical assets, equipment, life safety systems, and security operations are maintained to the highest standards while providing a safe, comfortable, and exceptional environment for guests and team members. The Director develops departmental strategies, manages budgets, oversees preventive maintenance programs, ensures regulatory compliance, and leads a high-performing team focused on operational excellence and guest satisfaction. Essential Responsibilities Leadership & Management Lead, mentor, train, and develop Engineering and Security team members. Recruit, interview, hire, coach, and evaluate department personnel. Prepare department schedules to ensure adequate staffing while controlling labor costs. Conduct regular staff meetings and ongoing performance coaching. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and safety. Engineering Operations Direct all preventive and corrective maintenance programs for the hotel. Ensure all building systems operate efficiently, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, mechanical equipment, pools, landscaping, and guest room systems. Prioritize and assign maintenance work orders and capital improvement projects. Conduct routine inspections of the property to identify maintenance deficiencies and safety concerns. Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment logs, and work order documentation. Security & Life Safety Oversee all hotel security operations and security personnel. Ensure compliance with all life safety regulations, OSHA requirements, fire codes, and company policies. Maintain key control, lost and found procedures, emergency preparedness, and crisis response plans. Conduct regular emergency drills and ensure staff are trained in evacuation and emergency response procedures. Investigate accidents, incidents, and security concerns, implementing corrective actions when necessary. Financial Management Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets. Monitor expenses and labor costs while maintaining service standards. Approve purchase orders and maintain appropriate inventory levels. Identify opportunities for cost savings through energy conservation and preventive maintenance initiatives. Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure compliance with hotel brand standards and company policies. Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Coordinate required inspections and maintain appropriate certifications. Ensure all engineering and security documentation is complete and current. Guest Service Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance and safety concerns. Work collaboratively with all hotel departments to ensure an exceptional guest experience. Maintain a visible presence throughout the property and proactively address operational issues. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered. Experience Minimum of 5 years of progressive hotel engineering experience. At least 3 years in a management or director-level leadership role preferred. Previous experience managing hotel security operations is highly desirable. Experience with branded hotel operations preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems. Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, fire/life safety, and risk management standards. Excellent leadership, coaching, and employee development skills. Strong organizational, planning, and project management abilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Budget preparation and expense management experience. Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office and hotel maintenance/work order systems. Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins. Physical Requirements Frequently walk throughout the hotel and grounds. Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Climb ladders, bend, kneel, reach, and work in confined spaces when necessary. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Compensation & Benefits Salary:
