Job Description

We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and service-oriented Dietary & Facilities Assistant to join our team at the Sheila S. Strauss Hospice House. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys preparing nourishing meals, creating a welcoming environment, and helping ensure our facility remains safe, comfortable, and well-maintained for patients, families, staff, and visitors. As a Dietary & Facilities Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting both the nutritional well-being of our patients and the day-to-day operations of our inpatient hospice facility. Hospice Certified Nurse Aide:
Prepare and cook nutritious, balanced meals for hospice patients while following dietary guidelines and restrictions Assist with menu planning and meal preparation based on patient preferences and medical needs Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, dining areas, equipment, and food storage areas Follow all food safety, handling, preparation, and storage regulations Maintain accurate food temperature logs, inventory records, and supply counts Work collaboratively with nursing staff and the interdisciplinary team to support patient needs Provide compassionate service and respond to patient and family requests with professionalism and empathy Assist the Facilities Manager with routine facility support tasks and general facility upkeep Perform basic maintenance and light repair tasks as assigned Support special projects and facility-related initiatives as needed Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the hospice house What we are looking for: High school diploma or GED required Previous food service, dietary, hospitality, or cooking experience preferred Healthcare, long-term care, senior living, or hospice experience preferred ServSafe Food Handler Certification required within two weeks of hire Basic maintenance, facility support, or handyman experience preferred Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills Compassionate, dependable, and service-oriented mindset Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical requirements of the position
