Job Description

Franklin County seeks a Field/Facility Site Supervisor for the Parks and Recreation Department. This individual will perform responsible work in a public setting involving supervision of an assigned facility and performing duties that will provide a safe and healthy atmosphere for players, spectators, parents, officials and volunteers & is also responsible to see that the facilities are maintained in a safe and clean environment during the course of the activity. Work is performed under the supervision of the Athletics Program Manager or his/her designee and will be on a part-time basis related to various sports seasons. The average workload will be 10-15 hours per week. Typical Tasks include communicating and working closely with other co-workers, volunteers, officials, and members of the public; using tact and courtesy when communicating with the public; assisting game officials in maintaining a positive and supportive environment that encourages growth, development, and good sportsmanship and remain highly visible throughout the event by walking the grounds and interacting with the spectators, participants, and volunteers. Basic knowledge of appropriate sport(s) involved is preferred. Successful candidate must possess the ability to work well with others, manage and address conflicts and maintain a positive environment for participants and spectators. Outstanding conflict resolution skills are critical. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, combined with experience in working with the public is desired. Individual must possess a current Virginia Driver's License, be at least 21 years of age and pass a criminal background check.
