Job Description

$500 paid out after 6 months of employment ( external candidates ) Are you a hands-on problem solver with a knack for maintenance, organization, and leadership? Do you enjoy working behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly? The Middlebury Natural Foods Co-op is looking for a Facilities Coordinator to help ensure our store and grounds are clean, safe, and well-maintained for staff, customers, and the community.
What You'll Do:
Oversee and perform maintenance and repair of store equipment and systems Coordinate with outside contractors for services like snow removal, landscaping, and pest control Monitor and maintain safety, cleanliness, and compliance across the store and grounds Operate equipment such as forklifts and balers safely and efficiently Keep accurate records, help develop preventative maintenance schedules, and innovate solutions to improve our facilities Support staff, provide excellent service, and contribute to a positive work culture
What We're Looking For:
Building maintenance experience and strong mechanical aptitude Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment Excellent communication and customer service skills Familiarity with tools, equipment, and safety practices Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, and at heights or in tight spaces Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly, stand for long periods
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of refrigeration and mechanical systems Forklift or heavy equipment experience Familiarity with natural foods and interest in food systems At the Co-op, we're committed to supporting a vibrant local economy, sustainability, and community learning. Seeking evening and weekend availability, this is a full-time, 32-40 hour position. Shifts are Sunday through Thursday.
