Job Description

NMC is currently recruiting a Project Manager, in Facilities. The position is temporary, full-time (80 hours bi-weekly), generally 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Northwestern Medical Center's mission is to provide exceptional health care to our community. Hiring Range:
$70,000 - 97,144 Project Manager - Facilities
JOB SUMMARY
The Project Manager is accountable for overseeing construction projects, construction related project and other projects as assigned. S/he will work closely with the Facilities Director and other internal customers to provide best value for the hospital through the all phases of Planning, Design and Construction. They will effectively manage project design, budget and schedule and provide effective communication to interested parties.
PRE-REQUISITES
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in management / engineering field preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of progressive responsibility in project management, construction administration, architecture, engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Prefer 5-7 years of experience.
Other Skills:
Excellent organizational skills. Clinical or hospital experience, strategic planning, user-focus, ability to build relationships and communicate effectively, strong process orientation, project management tools, strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility, alternate construction project delivery methods, and construction contacts.
Certifications:
PMP, CHC, CAPM or CHFM are desirable.

Phone, computer, radio, calculator, writing utensils, fax, photocopier.
Physical Demands:
Mostly light energy expenditure with medium to heavy energy expenditure required when assisting.
Infrequent:
assisting a team member, which involves lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds.
Occasional:
Sitting for meetings, filling out purchase requests, signing off on inventory and computer work. Overhead reaching up to 57 inches for phone book, books or binders. Forward and/or downward reaching, bending or twisting when accessing filing cabinets. Squatting, kneeling, or crouching to assess low level areas. Must have good fine and manual dexterity to use hand tools and work on computer.
Frequent:
walking for building and ground inspections, and within department to communicate with other departments.
Constant:
use of either hand.
Working Conditions:
Infrequent exposure to inclement weather conditions and extreme temperature changes. May be exposed to violent conditions when addressing hospital security issues. Occasional exposure to slippery and uneven floor or ground conditions or heights. Possible exposure to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment, loud sounds or bloodborne pathogens. Occasional stress/pressure from multiple calls, inquiries and priorities. Subject to varying, unexpected and unpredictable situations. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours. Constant supervising and training staff to ensure compliance with hospital safety and state regulatory standards for infection control, security and safe environment codes.
Required Protective Equipment:
Eye, ear, respiratory protection, hard hat, gloves, N95 mask, etc. as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Manages and takes ownership of the planning and design process for construction projects, including budgets, from creation through final close-out. Tracks and reports schedule and budget status to the Director of Support Services and Senior Leaders on a regular basis and as requested. Seeks opportunities for improved efficiencies and cost savings. Builds engagement and fosters shared goals among stakeholders. Effectively select Architects, Engineers, other sub consultants, and contractors while complying with hospital policies and meeting the needs of the users. Oversee the performance of architects, engineers and consultants working on various phases of the project. Administer the bidding process and prepare and execute contracts/purchase orders with contractors, vendors, and consultants. Provide continuous project risk assessment and develop project risk mitigation strategies as needed. Provide schedule and budget analysis required to support continuous project forecasting. Provide necessary direction for any corrective action needed to support on-time and on-budget project delivery. Ensure that architectural and engineering drawings specifications and regulations are being followed. Design review responsibilities include quality control of designs provided by others, design appropriateness, and constructability. Ensures that all required permits are obtained and complied with. Ensures that all applicable, laws, regulations, guidelines and policies are adhered to. Manages communications on a regular and timely basis, ensuring that all project participants are informed of project status, problems, and required actions.
