Juvenile Corrections employees have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of youth through careers in a variety of fields. The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Teacher Supervisor position, located at the new Juvenile Type 1 Facility, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Position Summary This position functions as the Academic Education Supervisor with primary responsibility for providing direct supervision to assigned academic and education office staff, the development and supervision of Special Education programs. Oversees the establishment and maintenance of the school climate, enforcement of school rules and implement disciplinary measures when necessary. This position also assists in the overall operation and supervision of the facility education's programs: develops, coordinates, manages, and evaluates a variety of other comprehensive education programs as assigned by the Juvenile Education Director; assists in development and administration of the DJC Graduation Policy; and assumes responsibility of the day-to-day operation of the Education Department in the absence of the Juvenile Education Director. Salary Information This position is in pay schedule and range 81-03 a starting rate of $37.50/hour
  • $45.
67/hour, plus excellent benefits. This position may receive supplemental pay, up to $2.97/hr., for additional credits relevant to the position that are over and above the credits needed for certification. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required. Our Teachers work twelve months out of the year. Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have experience: Teaching and performing classroom management Developing and updating curriculum Performing lead worker type duties (e.g. assigning and reviewing work, providing training, etc.) In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience: Working with at-risk populations (justice/court involved youth, youth with disabilities, etc.) Supervising staff (e.g. hiring, conducting performance evaluations, administering discipline, etc.)
