West Sacramento Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Associate supports daily warehouse and production operations by safely operating material handling equipment, accurately managing inventory through SAP RF scanners, and ensuring timely and correct handling of raw materials and finished goods. This role focuses on safe equipment operation, precise order picking and loading, and consistent adherence to safety and quality standards in an industrial manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Complete daily safety pre-checks of assigned equipment before use and report any issues immediately. Receive incoming raw materials and finished goods, verify accuracy, and put them away in designated storage locations. Enter all inventory data accurately into SAP RF scanners to maintain inventory integrity and traceability. Use SAP RF scanners to scan and pick each item on an order, following line-by-line instructions displayed in the system. Pick each order line by line as shown in the system and ensure items match product, quantity, and location requirements. Organize, stack, and stage items efficiently to support safe, accurate, and timely shipping and packaging. Meet or exceed daily productivity targets while maintaining high safety and quality standards. Follow established picking procedures and ensure all orders are picked correctly and in compliance with company processes. Load and unload containers and trucks safely and efficiently, using appropriate equipment and methods. Assist with cycle counts to help maintain accurate warehouse inventory records. Support other warehouse and production operations when order volume is low, including general labor and material handling tasks. Load or ensure the loading of metal onto uncoilers, verify that metal type and size are correct for the product to be produced, and feed material correctly into machines for proper operation. Perform material changeovers on equipment as production requirements dictate, following established procedures. Follow all facility and job-specific safety requirements, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adhering to environmental and hazardous waste disposal procedures. Operate a forklift safely in a small warehouse environment, following all safety rules and traffic guidelines. Participate in process improvement activities, housekeeping, and 5S initiatives within the assigned area and across the facility. Attend required safety and job-related training and consistently follow safety rules, expectations, and reporting procedures. Work on special projects and other assigned duties as needed to support overall warehouse and production operations. Work extra hours when needed to meet production, shipping, or customer demands, as business needs require. Essential Skills Ability to complete daily safety pre-checks on equipment and follow safety procedures consistently. Experience with shipping and receiving tasks, including loading, unloading, and staging materials. Ability to use SAP RF scanners or similar handheld devices to scan, pick, and record inventory accurately. Experience in order picking, packing, loading, and palletizing in a warehouse or production environment. Capability to organize and stack materials efficiently for safe and effective shipping and packaging. Ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely in a small warehouse environment. General labor and material handling experience, including lifting, moving, and positioning materials. Ability to support production operations, including handling metal coils and feeding material into machines. Understanding of and commitment to following safety rules, PPE requirements, and environmental and hazardous waste disposal procedures. Ability to meet daily productivity targets while maintaining safety and quality standards. Physical ability to stand and walk for most of an 8-hour shift and regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds. Basic reading, writing, and math skills sufficient to follow work instructions, system prompts, and safety guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Less than high school education; or one to three months of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in shipping and receiving, warehouse inventory, or production environments. Experience with pallet jacks and other material handling equipment. Familiarity with 5S and basic housekeeping practices in a warehouse or manufacturing setting. May be asked to obtain or hold a forklift license to facilitate loading and unloading activities. Comfort working with metal materials, uncoilers, and production machinery in an industrial setting. Flexibility to work extra hours or adjust start times as needed to support business demands. Work Environment This role operates in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to varying temperatures, loud noise levels, dust, fumes, oil, and other outdoor elements. The position requires regular standing and walking for most of an 8-hour shift, as well as periods of sitting, particularly when operating machinery or forklifts. You must use your hands frequently to handle, grab, lift, pull, or feel materials and reach with hands and arms. The role occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, and crouching. You must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, as well as use stairs and ladders as needed. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and must be worn as specified by safety rules and job requirements. The schedule includes a day shift from approximately 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch, with flexibility for earlier start times such as 6:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m. as needed, and a swing shift from approximately 2:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Reasonable accommodations may be considered to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Sacramento, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
