Materials Handler/Forklift Operator

Non-Exempt The prime function of this position is to provide support through collecting, loading, shipping and receiving warehouse products. Loads and unloads material within a manufacturing or storage facility. May utilize hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from trucks and within the facility. Has knowledge of safety and commonly-used practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Works under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities:

Operate 5,000 lb. forklift. Ensure all outbound truck loads are stacked safely and secure. Break pallets for production machines and build mixed product pallets for customer orders. Identify, report and resolve safety hazards in the workplace. Adhere to quality and customer service standards set forth by the company. Pick orders for full truck, LTL & UPS shipments. Optimizing loads to ensure operational efficiency. Securing loads to machine before transportation. Perform routine Inspection and maintenance of forklifts and other material handling equipment. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Other projects when required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of various material-handling equipment an asset Proficient in mathematics Strong understanding of OSHA regulations Possess a high regard for safety in the workplace Ability to lift weights of 40 to 60 lbs. unassisted safely Works under immediate supervision. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with co-workers and supervisors.

Requirements:

High school diploma/GED required. 1+ years' experience operating powered forklifts and certification. Ability to solve mechanical problems. Flexibility with scheduled workdays and shift
