Job Description

Today, Rex Lumber employs over 800 people in Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi, and is an industry leader in Southern Yellow Pine manufacturing. We are currently seeking Forklift Operators to join our growing team in Bristol, Fl. This position will be responsible for operating a 30,000 lb. forklift. Forklift operators will be well trained and must follow all Standard Operating Procedures and safety rules. Are you a hard working motivated individual and want a new career with dedication and time? Job Type:
Full Time (55+hours) 3 week rotating day shift 7am - 7pm (including weekends and Holidays)
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
Operate 30,000lb forklifts, or industrial trucks equipped to move, load, and stack/unstack materials around mills, warehouses and yard Ensure that all lumber packs are stacked according to the Stacking Quality Standard
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OPERATION
Complete Forklift Daily Checklist at the beginning of shift to ensure cleanliness of the forklift, proper and safe operation, and identification of any issues that may require maintenance intervention Safely and effectively operate diesel powered forklift to transport materials between various loading, processing, and storage areas, as assigned Safely stop and reset forklift when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report all malfunctions to area supervisor
HOUSEKEEPING & ORGANIZATION
Maintain cleanliness and order of forklift and workspace throughout shift. Use downtime or slack time to clean and organize Immediately advise the area Supervisor if any tools are missing, or required supplies are missing or running low
MAINTENANCE
Assist Maintenance Tradesmen in maintenance activities on machine center as assigned Grease and change wheels on kiln carts as needed
ADMINISTRATION & DOCUMENTATION
Accurately document all tags loaded/unloaded on load sheets daily Scan all tags after the end of shift to LT system Complete daily hot checks as required by supervisor Participate in action planning process All other duties assigned by supervisor
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
1+ years of forklift experience preferred 1+ years working in industrial manufacturing preferred Possess adequate fitness and stamina in order to conduct strenuous and physically demanding tasks. Understand and follow oral or written instructions issued by supervisors Able to clearly explain problems or give instructions to others involved in keeping operations running smoothly Able to perform the job with limited supervision Understand basic machine components and operation, including working around moving mechanical parts and vibrations Arrive on time and stay on task in order to contribute to better output and reaching production goals Able to work well in an industrial environment, and as part of a team
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Perform tasks such as walking, climbing, or standing for long periods of time Able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs Ability to work outside in all conditions Must be comfortable working around loud equipment Able to work while in a harness at heights over 4 feet Able to lift 50 lbs throughout work shift SAFETY Understand that Personal Safety is everyone's responsibility, and therefore it is MY responsibility Follow all area/machine center specific safety regulations Wear all required personal protective equipment (i.e., hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and reflective wear) at
ALL TIMES
when working in designated areas Do not enter restricted areas Report immediately to the supervisor any piece of equipment that is unsafe or functioning improperly Request assistance when a task exceeds individual knowledge Visually inspect equipment and area before starting/operating Whenever possible, eliminate unsafe conditions as soon as possible Use Standard Lockout Procedures when appropriate for machine centers Use proper lifting technique by pushing, pulling and lifting with your legs and not your back Never approach a saw while it is still running Follow all other safety regulations as set forth by the company
