REMELT / FORK LIFT OPERATOR
- 3rd Shift Ensures our customers receive a quality die cast product by supplying the casting press with the proper molten aluminum in a timely manner and ensuring all scrap is collected for reuse.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Maintains metal temperatures at the proper levels in Remelt and holding furnaces. Understands the metal temperature alarms and lights on the press and the actions to take when light goes off. Adds proportions of scrap metal and ingots into furnace as specified. Sprinkles fluxing compound on molten aluminum to bring impurities to surface. Skims slag from surface of molten aluminum. Conveys molten aluminum to holding furnaces at casting presses. Conveys scrap metal from trim presses to remelt furnaces. Maintains an adequate supply of aluminum for casting operations. Maintains and orders raw material using FIFO system. Performs proper de-gassing procedures to remove trapped gas from molten aluminum. Works in a hot environment and close proximity to hot furnaces and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned by management. Maintains regular and punctual attendance in accordance with scheduled work hours and overtime (OT) as assigned. Meets all physical and environmental requirements. Follows all Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Policy regulations including the proper use of all required personal protective equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Certifications/Licenses:
Must possess a Gibbs issued powered industrial equipment license or be willing to obtain a Gibbs issued powered industrial equipment license.
Experience:
6 months in a manufacturing environment using powered industrial equipment (fork truck). Applicants must be authorized to work for an employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
