Job Title:
Forklift Operator Job Description Operate a sit-down counterbalance forklift safely and efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Move materials to and from production lines, storage areas, and shipping and receiving docks while maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting smooth daily operations. Follow established procedures, safety protocols, and documentation requirements to ensure timely and accurate loading, unloading, and material handling. Responsibilities Operate a sit-down counterbalance forklift safely in a large manufacturing plant. Transport raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to and from production lines, storage locations, and shipping and receiving docks. Load and unload inbound and outbound trucks in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines. Verify loads against work orders, bills of lading, shipping documents, and inventory records to ensure accuracy. Maintain accurate inventory documentation and assist with cycle counts as needed. Conduct thorough pre-shift forklift inspections and immediately report any equipment issues to supervision. Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards and housekeeping expectations. Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and OSHA regulations at all times. Collaborate closely with production and warehouse team members to meet daily operational goals and schedules. Work independently and manage time effectively while supporting 2nd shift production and warehouse activities. Handle materials and products with care to prevent damage and support quality standards. Lift materials up to 50 pounds as needed and perform occasional stooping and other physical tasks required for material handling. Essential Skills Minimum one year of experience operating a sit-down forklift in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Current forklift certification, or ability to obtain certification upon hire. Prior forklift certification from a previous job. Proficiency in material handling, including loading, unloading, and transporting products safely. Ability to read and interpret work orders, shipping documents, bills of lading, and labels. Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and inventory handling. Consistent commitment to workplace safety and adherence to OSHA regulations and PPE requirements. Ability to work independently and as part of a team on 2nd shift. Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, operate equipment for long durations, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed. Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced production and warehouse environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a large manufacturing plant or warehouse environment. Familiarity with 5S standards and maintaining organized, clean work areas. Ability to collaborate with production and warehouse personnel to meet operational targets. Reliable work habits and strong sense of responsibility for equipment and product handling. Basic understanding of inventory processes and cycle counting. Why Work Here? Team members may need to stoop and perform other physical movements associated with material handling and loading activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grenada, MS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
