This position is responsible for safely receiving, moving, organizing, staging, and delivering materials throughout the facility to ensure production personnel have the materials needed to maintain an efficient and continuous workflow. The Material Handler will operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment, accurately track materials and quantities, receive material into the company system using an iPad, maintain organized inventory, and follow work orders, shop paperwork, drawings, and production schedules. The ideal candidate is reliable, works well with others, follows safety procedures, is comfortable using an iPad for receiving and inventory transactions, and takes pride in keeping materials organized and production supplied. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move materials throughout the facility. Load and unload trucks, and trailers, safely and efficiently. Supply production personnel with a continuous flow of parts, steel, and other materials. Stage materials in designated locations according to production requirements and schedules. Accurately count, identify, and verify materials, quantities, orders, and items against paperwork. Accurately receive incoming material into the company Tekla system using an iPad, including verifying quantities, material descriptions, and required documentation. Maintain accurate records of material movement, usage, receipts, and inventory levels. Review and follow work orders, shop prints, engineering drawings, diagrams, and other manufacturing documents. Ensure materials are properly identified and stored in the correct locations. Perform daily forklift inspections and report equipment issues or safety concerns. Refuel or recharge forklifts and other equipment as necessary. Keep paperwork, material records, and documentation organized and up to date. Communicate material usage, shortages, damaged materials, or other issues to supervision. Assist with inventory control and maintaining appropriate stock levels. Handle materials manually, by cart, or by forklift as required. Use basic hand tools when necessary. Assist with general warehouse and production-related duties as assigned. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow all company safety, quality, and operating procedures. Routinely communicate with supervision regarding material requirements and production needs. Qualifications Previous forklift or material-handling experience preferred. Manufacturing, warehouse, or steel industry experience is a plus. Ability to safely operate a forklift. Must be comfortable using an iPad and able to accurately enter and receive material into an electronic system. Ability to read and understand basic shop paperwork, work orders, drawings, and written instructions. Ability to perform basic math calculations, including counting, measurements, and quantities. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in order to understand safety instructions and work directions. Ability to accurately complete forms and maintain material records. Ability to recognize and follow quality requirements. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Dependable attendance and willingness to work the assigned day shift. Physical Requirements This position requires regular physical activity throughout the workday, including: Prolonged standing and walking. Ability to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 pounds . Obtaining assistance when handling heavy, oversized, or awkward materials. Reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Working around moving forklifts, trucks, equipment, and materials. Performing manual material-handling activities. Ability to safely perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
