Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator to join our warehouse team. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient movement, loading, and unloading of materials within our distribution center. The ideal candidate will possess strong operational skills with various types of heavy equipment, including reach trucks, clamp trucks, and Hi-Lo forklifts. They will play a vital role in maintaining safety standards, supporting warehouse management systems, and facilitating smooth warehouse distribution processes. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic logistics environment where precision and safety are paramount. Duties Safely operate a variety of heavy equipment such as reach trucks, clamp trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, and pallet jacks to load and unload materials efficiently. Conduct routine inspections and perform basic repairs on equipment to ensure optimal operation and safety compliance. Handle materials with care during order picking, shipping, and receiving activities to maintain accuracy and prevent damage. Support warehouse management system operations by updating inventory records during stock movements. Assist in order picking processes using appropriate equipment, ensuring correct items are selected according to order specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work environment in compliance with OSHA safety standards. Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize storage solutions and improve overall distribution workflows. Perform heavy lifting tasks as required while adhering to safety protocols for materials handling. Participate in inventory counts and support shipping & receiving activities to ensure timely dispatches and arrivals. Operate equipment such as pallet jacks and clamp trucks with mechanical knowledge to facilitate efficient warehouse operations. Qualifications Proven experience operating forklifts, reach trucks, clamp trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, or similar heavy equipment within a warehouse setting. Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and experience with order picker technology. Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards related to materials handling and equipment operation. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic repairs on equipment when necessary. Familiarity with warehouse distribution processes including shipping & receiving, inventory management, and order picking. Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for inventory counts and measurements. Previous experience in warehouse supervision or team leadership is a plus. Excellent attention to detail combined with strong physical stamina for heavy lifting tasks. Good communication skills for effective collaboration within a diverse team environment.
