Job Title:
Forklift Operator Job Description This role involves safely operating forklifts and other material handling equipment in a temperature-controlled manufacturing and warehouse environment. You will move products throughout the facility, support production and shipping activities, maintain accurate inventory records, and uphold strict food safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely and efficiently in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. Move products to and from production lines, storage areas, and shipping docks in a timely and accurate manner. Load and unload tractor‑trailer shipments while protecting product integrity and minimizing damage. Maintain accurate inventory records and complete required paperwork or follow verbal instructions to determine material needs. Use RF scanners and basic computer systems to track, locate, and verify inventory and orders. Ensure proper handling, stacking, and storage of products to maintain quality and food safety standards. Follow all safety, sanitation, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and SQF food safety regulations at all times. Support general warehouse housekeeping, including keeping aisles, work areas, and equipment clean and organized. Assist with facility maintenance tasks as needed to support smooth operations. Perform order picking and material staging for production, shipping, and receiving activities. Operate various material handling tools such as sit-down and stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet jacks as assigned. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production and shipping schedules. Perform other duties as assigned to support overall warehouse and manufacturing operations. Essential Skills Prior forklift experience required, including the ability to operate forklifts safely in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Experience with stand-up forklift or reach truck operation preferred. Ability to safely operate pallet jacks, including electric pallet jacks. Proficiency in basic computer use and RF scanner operation preferred. Ability to read, write, and understand safety procedures and work instructions. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining food safety and quality standards. Capability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment and lift materials as needed. Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including loading and unloading trailers. Familiarity with inventory control and material handling practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating sit-down forklifts, stand-up forklifts, and reach trucks. Experience in warehouse or production environments with order picking and material handling responsibilities. Comfort using RF scanners for inventory tracking and order picking. Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and adhere to SQF food safety requirements. Strong communication skills to follow verbal instructions and coordinate with team members. Reliability in attendance and performance, supporting progression through defined skill and pay levels. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a brand-new, temperature-controlled manufacturing and warehouse facility with approximately 360 employees on site. You will work around production lines, storage areas, and shipping docks while operating forklifts, reach trucks, stand-up and sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks (including electric pallet jacks), and RF scanners. The environment follows strict GMP and PPE guidelines, requiring compliance with established safety, sanitation, and food safety protocols. The role supports multiple shifts, including a first shift Monday through Friday (7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) and a third shift Sunday through Thursday (11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.). The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety standards, creating a structured and professional work setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dunmore, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $21.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
