Forklift Operator Job Description This role focuses on safely operating a stand-up forklift in a high-volume warehouse environment to load and unload kegs, manage inventory, and prepare products for shipment. You will work with RF scanners and warehouse management systems to accurately locate, move, and track inventory, while helping to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient facility. Responsibilities Assist in unloading and loading new and used kegs when trucks arrive. Operate a stand-up forklift to move pallets and materials throughout the warehouse and refrigerated areas. Receive bin numbers and accurately locate beer pallets in the refrigerated area. Use an RF scanner in combination with WMS/SAP to track, locate, and manage inventory. Load and unload shipping trucks in a very fast-paced environment. Prepare packages and pallets for shipping, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation. Move and maneuver cases and kegs safely, following all material handling procedures. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to locating and moving material in the stockroom, using a solution-oriented approach. Perform inventory-related tasks, including counting, verifying, and organizing stock as needed. Use basic computer skills to enter data and update inventory systems. Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of hazards during downtime and as part of daily routines. Essential Skills At least 2 years of warehouse experience. Previous experience operating a stand-up forklift, or equivalent forklift experience (certification will be provided on site). Ability to use an RF scanner for inventory and order processing. Familiarity with warehouse management systems, preferably WMS/SAP. Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking. Ability to lift cases up to 35 lbs and maneuver kegs up to 170 lbs safely. Ability to work effectively in a very fast-paced warehouse environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when locating, moving, and tracking inventory. Solution-oriented mindset to resolve issues with locating and moving materials. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in the food and beverage industry is preferred. Stand-up forklift experience is strongly preferred. Comfort working in and around refrigerated areas as needed. Ability to follow safety procedures and warehouse best practices consistently. Strong organizational skills to help maintain a clean and orderly warehouse. Reliable attendance and ability to work assigned 2nd or 3rd shift schedules. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a warehouse and brewery setting in the Richmond, VA area. The facility is climate-controlled, but you will regularly enter refrigerated areas to retrieve products and cases. The work is fast-paced and physically active, involving frequent lifting and maneuvering of cases and kegs. You will use stand-up forklifts, RF scanners, and WMS/SAP systems as part of daily operations. Shifts include 2nd shift (3:00 pm-11:00 pm, Monday-Friday) and 3rd shift (11:30 pm-7:00 am, Sunday-Thursday). The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with a focus on efficient warehouse and brewery operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sandston, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $21.00/hr.
