Job Description

Summary:
The Saw Operator / Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating industrial saw equipment to cut steel materials according to specifications and production requirements. This position also operates forklifts to transport steel products from the storage yard to production areas, ensuring materials are moved efficiently and safely to support manufacturing operations. This position plays a key role in maintaining material flow, ensuring accurate steel cuts, and supporting efficient production operations while maintaining a safe work environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Operate saws to cut steel materials according to work orders and specifications.
  • Measure and verify material dimensions to ensure accuracy before and after cutting.
  • Read and interpret work orders, production schedules, and material specifications.
  • Load and unload steel materials onto saws and other production equipment.
Operate forklifts to transport steel products, raw materials, and finished goods between the yard, warehouse, and production areas. Safely stage materials for production and maintain an organized workflow. Inspect materials for defects, damage, and quality concerns. Perform routine maintenance and daily inspections on saw equipment and forklifts. Maintain accurate records of materials cut, moved, and inventoried. Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations. Assist with inventory control and material handling as needed. Communicate effectively with supervisors, production personnel, and yard staff.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 0-3 years of industrial saw operation experience preferred.
Forklift operating experience required. Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification. Ability to read measuring devices, including tape measures and calipers. Basic data entry skills. Basic math skills and ability to interpret production documents. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
