About Union Gospel Mission Sacramento Union Gospel Mission Sacramento is a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has served Sacramento since 1962, reaching individuals and families experiencing homelessness, addiction, poverty, and crisis with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and practical acts of mercy. The Mission provides daily meals, emergency shelter for men, showers, clothing, hygiene items, mail services, food boxes, and support for men, women, and children along with a free 10-month Bible-based recovery program for men. Through compassionate service and Christ-centered programs, UGM Sacramento seeks to bring hope, stability, and transformation to those in need across the Sacramento community. Job Overview Union Gospel Mission is seeking a strategic and mission-driven Director of Development to lead fundraising, donor relations, and communications efforts that support the organization's long-term growth and ministry impact. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role oversees development planning, major gifts, annual giving, grants, church and community partnerships, donor stewardship, marketing communications, fundraising events, and campaign initiatives. Key Duties Develop and implement an annual development plan to meet or exceed revenue goals. Partner with the Executive Director and Major Gifts Officer on long-term fundraising strategies. Manage, mentor, and support the development team. Oversee fundraising efforts, including major gifts, annual giving, direct mail, planned giving, church relations, and grants. Cultivate and solicit major donors while strengthening donor stewardship. Build relationships with churches, civic groups, and community partners. Oversee donor database management, reporting, and gift tracking. Lead public relations, donor communications, newsletters, appeals, social media, and promotional materials. Plan fundraising events, donor appreciation gatherings, community engagement activities, and capital campaigns as needed. Requirements Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in fundraising, development, or advancement. At least 3 years of leadership experience. Bachelor's degree required; master's degree or CFRE preferred. Proven success securing major gifts and meeting revenue goals. Strong communication, relationship-building, and public speaking skills. Experience leading, mentoring, and developing a team. Nonprofit ministry experience, especially in a Christian or faith-based organization, strongly preferred. Must have a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and agree with Union Gospel Mission's statement of faith, mission, and values.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
