What You'll Do As Philanthropy Officer, you'll help grow advancement revenue by building strong, lasting donor relationships that fuel both everyday operations and key campaigns. You'll keep engagement high, communication timely, and momentum steady—so donors feel valued and choose to give again.
Key responsibilities include:
Manage and grow a portfolio through thoughtful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship Prospect new supporters (yes, including cold outreach) and track next steps Execute fundraising strategies for operational and campaign initiatives Produce clear reports using donor, numerical, and financial data Partner closely with teammates on communication, coordination, and special campaigns Required qualifications/skills: Bachelor's degree; strong knowledge of charitable giving 3-5 years of proven donor relationship success with standout fundraising results Well-connected in local donor and nonprofit circles Excellent written/verbal communication; highly organized; Microsoft Office + donor database proficiency A Typical Day Here You start by checking your dashboard and inbox—thank-you notes, meeting confirmations, and a few warm introductions to follow up on.
Mid-morning is for conversations:
a coffee with a longtime supporter, a quick call to a new prospect, and a thoughtful update that connects someone's giving to real outcomes. After lunch, you tidy up notes in the donor database, pull a few metrics for reporting, and sync with teammates to keep messages consistent and campaign timelines on track. The day often ends with planning: next week's touchpoints, a special campaign push, and small details that make donor interactions feel personal and positive.
