Description:
This position is responsible for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for an assigned group of prospects, including individuals and corporations/foundations, with a focus on major gift activity; identification and qualification of new prospects; and managing assigned fundraising projects.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The mission of the division is to expand the University's relationship within the community for the purposes of increasing both the financial and Human Resources of the University. To provide operating structure and central administrative support for the Vice Chancellor and the departmental units.
Requirements:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree required with related experience. Experience in higher education fundraising, non-profit fundraising, sales or other relevant experience required. Ability to work independently and in teams, meet high goals and interact effectively with alumni, friends, faculty and staff in a comprehensive research university setting. Willingness to travel and work weekends.
Preferred:
Master's degree. Seven years or more of related experience. Skills and experience relevant to securing major gifts, which can include front line fundraising, financial advising, and estate planning, and sales A strategic, entrepreneurial, and innovative approach to fundraising A knowledge of contemporary philanthropy and the vehicles available to individuals to achieve their philanthropic goals A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and collaboratively The capacity to communicate with a wide variety of individuals and inspire them to support programming in a broad range of University programs An understanding of complex, comprehensive institutions and an appreciation for and understanding of diverse audiences and communities.
