YMCA OF GREATER NASHUA
The Opportunity The YMCA of Greater Nashua is building a new philanthropic model from the ground up, one that expands the story we tell donors, deepens the relationships we build, and grows the resources that power our mission. Reporting to the VP of Philanthropy, the Development Manager will be the operational owner of that model's day-to-day engine: running the annual giving campaign, stewarding our recurring donor society, translating donor data into strategy, and supporting the grants function that brings additional resources to the Y's work. This is a role for someone who genuinely loves the behind-the-scenes work of fundraising — the systems, the details, the stewardship touches that turn a one-time donor into a lifelong champion. Essential Functions Annual Campaign Execution Own the day-to-day execution of the Y's rebranded annual giving campaign, coordinating timelines, donor communications, gift processing, and reporting Manage the campaign calendar from kickoff through closeout, ensuring every touchpoint lands on time and on message Coordinate with marketing on campaign materials, digital outreach, and donor-facing content Track campaign progress against goals and provide regular updates to the VP of Philanthropy 1887 Society
  • Recurring Donor Program Help develop and own the operational management of the 1887 Society, the Y's recurring donor program, including enrollment, retention, and recognition Develop and execute a stewardship calendar that keeps recurring donors engaged and connected to the mission throughout the year Monitor giving patterns and flag lapsed or at-risk donors for outreach by the VP of Philanthropy Manage fulfillment of donor recognition benefits including pins, milestone recognition, and stewardship touches coordinated with the administrative team Donor Database Management Serve as the strategic owner of the Y's donor CRM — overseeing data integrity in partnership with the administrative team, building segmentation, and ensuring the database is a decision-making tool, not just a record-keeping system Run regular reports and data pulls to support campaign tracking, donor segmentation, and stewardship planning Support the VP of Philanthropy with donor research and prospect management Grant Coordination Support Assist the Y's contracted grant writer in managing the grants calendar, tracking deadlines for Letters of Inquiry, proposals, and reporting across all active foundation relationships Coordinate data collection and program outcome reporting to support the VP of Philanthropy and the Y's contracted grant writer Maintain organized grant files and correspondence for all foundation relationships Support grant reporting by pulling financial and program data from internal systems General Development Operations Develop and oversee the stewardship communications strategy across all donor segments, working with the administrative team on routine acknowledgments while owning the content, voice, and cadence of meaningful donor touchpoints throughout the year Support event logistics for fundraising and donor cultivation events as the model grows Serve as a connector across the development team, keeping the VP of Philanthropy informed, organized, and focused on relationships and strategy Continuously improve development systems and processes to support a growing and more sophisticated philanthropic program
Qualifications Required:
3+ years of experience in development operations, nonprofit administration, or a related field Hands-on experience with a donor CRM or database platform — data entry, reporting, and list management Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously without things slipping Clear, compelling written communication — you can craft donor-facing content that connects people to mission, from campaign appeals to stewardship updates A collaborative mindset; you're a team player who makes the people around you more effective Genuine alignment with the Y's mission and the communities we serve
Preferred:
Experience supporting an annual fund, membership campaign, or recurring giving program Familiarity with grant calendar management or foundation reporting Background in YMCA or similar community-based nonprofit
IMPACT STATEMENT
The Development Manager is the operational heartbeat of the YMCA of Greater Nashua's philanthropic mission. While others cultivate relationships and make the ask, this person makes sure nothing falls through the cracks, that every donor feels valued, every campaign runs on time, and every data point is where it needs to be. By building and maintaining the systems that power our giving model, the Development Manager will help ensure that more kids get to camp, more families find belonging, and more community members access the life-changing programs that make this Y extraordinary
