This role leads a coordinated, data-driven approach to fundraising and engagement, including oversight of the Marketing & Volunteer Lead and a contracted Grant Writer. The Director is a key storyteller of CUMAC's mission and is responsible for maintaining and strengthening relationships with individual, corporate, foundation, and government supporters. The Development Director works closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to strategically partner with the team to build and sustain strong relationships with major donors, community partners, and funders. Responsibilities Fundraising & Strategy In partnership with the executive team, develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support and grow a $2.9M+ annual revenue portfolio across foundations, government, individual donors, corporations, and events. Create and manage an annual fundraising and communications calendar aligned with organizational priorities. Grants Management & Compliance Manage the full grant lifecycle, including research, writing, submission, tracking, reporting, and compliance for foundation, corporate, and government funding. Maintain and manage a detailed grant calendar, ensuring all deadlines and deliverables are met. Prepare and oversee all grant reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong alignment with program outcomes. Develop and manage grant budgets in coordination with finance and program teams. Work within government systems such as SAGE and ensure compliance with all funding requirements. Individual Giving & Donor Engagement Track and manage the full donor lifecycle, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors. Build and implement strategies to increase donor engagement, retention, and recurring giving. Develop systems and processes to grow the donor base and strengthen long-term relationships. Partner with the CEO and Board to support donor cultivation and fundraising efforts. Database & Data Strategy Maintain and actively manage the donor database (DonorPerfect or similar), ensuring accuracy and functionality. Use data to track performance, segment audiences, and drive fundraising strategy. Create and maintain systems to gather and analyze program and donor data critical to funders and stakeholders. Marketing, Communications & Storytelling Oversee marketing and communications efforts to ensure strong, consistent messaging across all platforms. Produce and guide the development of written materials for brand promotion and fundraising (presentations, brochures, website content, donor communications). Serve as a key storyteller, translating program impact into compelling narratives for donors and funders. Ensure alignment between fundraising, marketing, and volunteer engagement strategies . Collaboration & External Relations Represent CUMAC at speaking engagements, community events, and meetings with current and prospective supporters. Build and maintain relationships with corporate partners, community organizations, and funders. Regularly communicate with program staff to ensure accurate data collection, identify funding needs, and gather stories for development efforts. Partner with senior leadership to track program outcomes and communicate impact to stakeholders . Management & Leadership Supervise the Marketing & Volunteer Lead and manage a contracted Grant Writer, ensuring alignment across all development functions. Provide direction and accountability for marketing, messaging, fundraising goals, and engagement strategies. Partner with the CEO to support Board engagement, including the External/Fundraising Committee. Establish and maintain systems, processes, and best practices to strengthen development operations and long-term sustainability. Qualifications 5-8+ years of nonprofit development experience with a strong track record in fundraising. Demonstrated success in individual donor cultivation and relationship management. Strong experience managing grants, reporting, budgeting, and compliance. Proficiency with donor databases (Donor Perfect or similar CRM systems). Experience working with government grant systems (such as SAGE) preferred. Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills. Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Compensation & Benefits Salary:
