We are seeking a hands-on Full-Time (30 hours per week) Director of Development & Communications. The hours are Monday through Friday on-site from 9 am to 3 pm. Key Responsibilities The chosen candidate will oversee all of Millhill's fundraising and will manage and build relationships with Millhill's current and potential financial partners. This includes planning fundraising events, interacting and finding donors, both public and private, and encourage ongoing contributions and seeking out opportunities for financial support through grants and sponsorships. The following is a summary of tasks: Implements and monitors a comprehensive fundraising plan to expand philanthropic support of Millhill including using income and expense cycles to guide fundraising campaign decisions. Identifies and strengthens relationships with community stakeholders. Builds new donor relationships while maintaining existing ones. Leads design and implementation marketing programs and special events to maximize prospect/donor engagement. Coordinates media events; speaks on behalf of Millhill with media outlets as needed. Acts as primary point of contact for funding, donations, and fundraising event inquiries. Manages special event planning and implementation of the event process. Oversees the grant writer role and assist in grant writing. Formulates new content to earn grants, new audiences and better relationships with donors and other corporations. Monitors the donor/constituency database. Maintains a respectful reputation for Millhill. Oversees the management of the website. Manages written correspondence to donors and supporters, including donor acknowledgements. Assists marketing with the production of the annual report. Creates visibility for the Agency through an active public relations program. Designs and implements an annual appeal process. Creates/revises agency brochures. Submits a monthly progress report to the CEO and/or CFO to include strategies and needs. Preferred Experience, Background, and Skills Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, or equivalent experience, or related field Excellent organizational and communication skills A minimum of five years professional experience in the nonprofit sector or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience. Background in early childhood education and/or behavioral health settings Interest and enthusiasm for the mission of Millhill Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, to analyze and solve complex problems, and to exercise sound judgment A desire to continually learn and develop professionally while exhibiting respect for diverse viewpoints Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and public speaking The ability to create and implement systems and processes Creativity and a strong sense of integrity are important Strong team player Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to building relationships with diverse populations Evidence of self-motivation Computer proficiency required; experience with database management Experience with social media We are an EEO employer
