Job Description

About
MAZON MAZON
A Jewish Response to Hunger is a national advocacy organization working to end hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds in the United States and Israel. Inspired by Jewish values, we fight for laws and policies that ensure everyone regardless of circumstance has access to adequate, nutritious food with dignity and choice. We are a leading national voice on anti-hunger issues, working independently and in coalition with partners to protect and strengthen nutrition programs, support local advocacy groups, food banks, and legal-service organizations, and educate communities across the country on how to join us in this mission. The Role We're looking for an organized, people-oriented Development Associate to join our Community Engagement team in Los Angeles. You'll be at the heart of our fundraising operations — managing donor relationships, processing gifts, maintaining our database, and keeping the development engine running smoothly. If you love working with people, thrive on keeping things organized, and want your work to have real impact, this role is for you. What You'll Do Fundraising & Development Administration Support the Community Engagement team in developing and improving fundraising processes. Coordinate the development calendar, including appeals, gift reporting, and events. Manage the corporate matching gift application process. Help plan and support donor events and outreach activities in Los Angeles. Proofread and edit direct mail and email solicitations. Assist with vendor relationships and general administrative tasks. Donor Relations & Gift Processing Serve as the primary point of contact for donor inquiries via phone and email. Process donations from multiple channels and resolve donor issues with care. Manage gift acknowledgements and tribute processing, including special recognition for major gifts. Database Management Learn and maintain our donor database (Salesforce) to generate reports for prospecting and stewardship. Collaborate with the operations team to keep donor data clean and consistent across platforms. Financial Support Partner with the finance team on monthly reconciliation and end-of-month reporting. Assist with the annual audit process. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred. 2+ years in a similar role within a nonprofit organization. Excellent communication skills — both written and verbal. Strong customer service instincts and a genuine passion for helping people. Sharp organizational skills and a high attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Salesforce or another donor/CRM database is a plus. A problem-solver who can work both independently and as a collaborative team member. Genuine commitment to MAZON's mission. Knowledge of Jewish culture is a plus. Compensation & Benefits We offer a competitive hourly rate of $31-$34/hour. Employer-paid benefits include comprehensive medical insurance and Life/Disability/AD&D coverage. Additional benefits include a 401K with employer match, FSA participation, and dental, vision, and AFLAC insurance at group rates. We also offer a generous vacation and sick leave plan, a full Jewish holiday schedule, and early Friday closures in observance of Shabbat. We have a fun, mission-driven team even virtually and we think you'll love working with us.
