The Development Director will create and implement organizational fundraising initiatives with the Executive Director, board members, and other key stakeholders to grow and diversify revenue streams, including individual giving, foundation grants, and special events. The ideal candidate will have a record of effective fundraising results, demonstrate excellent relationship-building skills, and convey a passion for meaningfully improving the financial, mental, and social well-being of tens of millions of Americans whose lives are being severely affected by predatory gambling. What You'll Do Fundraising Strategy and Planning Collaborate with the Executive Director and other stakeholders to create and implement Stop Predatory Gambling's annual fundraising strategy Research, identify, and solicit new funding sources, including grants and individual donors. Develop and implement strategies to increase financial support from individual donors, foundations, and corporations. Strategize multi‐channel appeals, newsletters, and other fundraising campaigns to engage donors, collaborating with the communications team to ensure execution. Develop and execute donor acquisition direct mail efforts Manage contracts with development consultants and vendors, and track expenses against budgeted costs. Provide management support to the National Board's development efforts Provide regular updates to the Executive Director and National Board Members on fundraising performance and progress toward goals. Integrate fundraising into educational and outreach efforts Donor Cultivation and Stewardship Build and maintain strong relationships with existing donors, sponsors, and prospective supporters. Develop and manage donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans. Ensure timely and accurate gift entry and acknowledgment, including personalized donor communications such as thank-you letters and impact reports Manage correspondence related to donations, pledges, and donor inquiries. Maintain a calendar of stewardship activities and events, providing project management for fundraising initiatives Grant Management Research and identify potential foundation grant opportunities. Collaborate with the Financial Manager to track and meet grant reporting requirements. Event Planning and Execution Plan and execute fundraising events, working with event committees, vendors, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth event logistics. Manage event budgets and track expenses to ensure successful, cost-effective events. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure events align with organizational goals and provide exceptional experiences for attendees. Data Management and Reporting Oversee and maintain the donor database, managing the integration of Salesforce with financial systems and ensuring accurate records and donor integrity. Analyze donor data to inform strategies for donor cultivation, retention, and growth. Generate reports and metrics to track fundraising progress. Collaborate with internal teams, including communications, to create fundraising materials. Key Character Traits Someone engaged in their community and the world around them Selfless Gets along well with others Possesses a moral backbone and acts on it Steady and reliable Can work with people of all political stripes Someone who has the ability to make the work fun (at least some of the time) Highly-resilient Dependable, self-motivated, honest Professional Qualifications Bachelor's degree required At least 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, including Donor cultivation strategy Fundraising events management Grant research and management (preferred) Ability to execute fundraising plans and strategies that generate significant results with proven track record in managing donor relations and development operations Excellent writing skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage diverse stakeholders Proven organizational, time-management, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously Experience establishing and maintaining major new giving programs (preferred) Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team Knowledge of fundraising best practices and experience with prospecting tools Experience writing and submitting successful grant applications (preferred)What We Offer:
Work Environment, Schedule, and Compensation The physical demands described for this position are that of a typical office environment.Location:
Remote; willingness to travel required on occasion (likely no more than quarterly.) This position could function anywhere in the United States. While the ideal candidate would be located in or near Greater Boston, location will not be a deciding factor in choosing the right candidate.Schedule:
Monday - Friday, occasional evenings and weekend availability will be required as job duties demand. For the right candidate, if necessary, we are open to offering flexibility on structuring the work week.Compensation:
$75,000-$90,000 commensurate with experience with opportunities for advancement as the organization grows.
