This position will allow us to build a stable foundation to better help us achieve our mission and vision by focusing on fundraising and volunteer management. As an organization, we can only do as much work as our Committees can take on and our committees can only be as successful as they have volunteers to see the work through to completion. Additionally, our impact is limited based on financial resources. This role will provide strategic leadership in our fundraising and volunteer efforts to help us find and partner with new sources of funding as well as help find new volunteers and help them to find a sense of meaning and purpose in their service and work.
Fundraising Leadership Overall Responsibility:
Provide strategic leadership for the organization's fundraising efforts, developing and executing a comprehensive volunteer resource development plan that ensures sustainable and diversified revenue growth.
Key Outcomes & Areas of Leadership:
Establish and achieve annual fundraising goals aligned with organizational priorities ($75,000 in year one). Design, implement, and continuously improve a diversified fundraising strategy that may include corporate sponsorships, business partnerships, incentive-based giving programs, individual and corporate donations, events, campaigns, merchandise, and other revenue-generating initiatives. Cultivate and steward relationships with businesses, sponsors, donors, and community partners to deepen engagement and long-term investment in the organization. Lead the planning and execution of fundraising events and revenue-generating activities, ensuring they align with brand, mission, and financial objectives. Identify and develop new funding opportunities, partnerships, and innovative revenue models that strengthen financial sustainability. Collaborate on messaging and marketing strategies related to fundraising. Monitor performance metrics, evaluate return on investment, and adjust strategies to improve outcomes over time.
Volunteer & Community Membership Engagement Overall Responsibility:
Develop and lead a robust volunteer and community membership engagement program that strengthens organizational capacity, supports committees and events, and builds long-term community involvement.
Key Outcomes & Areas of Leadership:
Assess volunteer needs across committees, programs, and events, and design systems that align volunteer skills and interests with organizational priorities. Develop and implement effective recruitment, onboarding, training, and communication practices for volunteers. Create clear structures, processes, and expectations that ensure volunteers are well-supported and successful in their roles. Maintain and improve systems for tracking volunteer engagement, opportunities, and communication. Establish and execute strategies for volunteer retention, engagement, and appreciation. Provide strategic oversight and continued development of the membership program to ensure it meets organizational goals and delivers meaningful value to members. Partner with committee chairs and leadership to build volunteer leadership pipelines and strengthen overall program effectiveness. Organizational Leadership & Collaboration Serve as a member of the management team, contributing strategic ideas and operational leadership that advance the organization's mission and long-term sustainability. Collaborate across committees, staff, and stakeholders to align fundraising and volunteer efforts with broader organizational goals. Support events and initiatives as needed, contributing to overall team success. Identify and implement best practices in nonprofit fundraising and volunteer engagement, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation. Requirements The ideal candidate will have sufficient professional experience to have proven the following: Program creation & management Successful collaboration skills Ability to form partnerships with other departments or companies to achieve goals Skills in recruiting and hiring Skills in increasing engagement leading to retention Fundraising for either a non-profit or a for-profit organization If a candidate does not have these skills but still desires to apply, they must show how they can compensate for the lack of experience in these areas. The HDSA is a volunteer-driven and volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to promote, preserve, and improve the Downtown Historic District as the heart and soul of the City of Snohomish.
