About Abandoned Pet Rescue:

Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of abandoned and abused pets. For over 30 years, APR has been a lifeline for thousands of dogs and cats, ensuring every animal receives the love, medical care, and second chance they deserve.

Position Summary:

APR is seeking a passionate and results-oriented Contract Development Manager to lead fundraising efforts and cultivate meaningful relationships with donors, sponsors, and the community. This role will be critical in securing the financial resources needed to sustain and grow APR's mission. The ideal candidate is a creative self-starter with a track record in nonprofit development, strong communication skills, and a genuine love for animals. They will also have an extensive network to call upon to support our donor program.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising Strategy & Execution:

Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan, including individual giving, major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships (and fulfilling agreements with them), and special events. Identifying and securing sponsors for specific areas of the shelter.

Donor Engagement:

Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, sponsors, and potential funders. Maintain a donor database and oversee timely acknowledgment of gifts. Re-engaging lapsed donors. Leading a project to engage more financial planners. Supporting the Board/Volunteer networking and fundraising opportunities.

Grant Writing & Management:

Identify and apply for relevant grants. Manage grant calendars and reporting requirements.

Event Planning & Support:

Plan and execute fundraising events, including donor receptions, community fundraisers, and online campaigns. Leading the planning of our 30th Anniversary fundraiser tied to a capital campaign. Evaluating our current fundraisers to inform how to improve/grow them. Utilizing the skills of current volunteers to help organize the fundraising committee.

Marketing & Communications Collaboration:

Work with APR's team to produce compelling fundraising communications (email appeals, social media content, newsletters)

Board & Volunteer Relations:

Partner with the Board and fundraising committee to support their outreach efforts. Engage volunteers to support development initiatives.

• Track and measure progress to report back to the Board, and make recommendations for future fundraising efforts, on a regular basis.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of nonprofit fundraising or development experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with donor management software and CRM systems
• Understanding of how AI plays a role in CRM + Donor management
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
• Passion for animal welfare and a belief in APR's mission
• Event planning or campaign management experience is a plus
• Grant writing experience preferred

• Occasional evening or weekend event attendance required This is an independent contractor salaried position that also pays bonus tied to performance.
