Soldiers' Angels is a national nonprofit organization providing assistance to our service members, veterans, and their families. The organization is nationally headquartered in San Antonio, Texas and is a rapidly growing organization. We are looking for a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team in the San Antonio metro area.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Area Director is responsible for the overall management and direction of the assigned area, working under the close supervision of the Senior Director of Field Operations including planning, organizing, and leading all activities in the field including fundraising, volunteer management, program delivery, relationship building, collaborating, and networking.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with the Director of Field Operations to ensure oversight, training, and management of the assigned area. Serves as the primary fundraiser for the assigned territory, which includes soliciting new donors, sponsorship sales, grant writing, and individual donor relationship management. This position does include an annual fundraising goal. Work with local and assigned partners as well as utilize the donor relations/fundraising data entry system (Salesforce) to acknowledge and steward assigned donors. Provide oversight and guidance in coordinating all third-party fundraising events in assigned area. Responsible for creating programs and executing program strategy to include annual plans and operating budgets for the assigned site. Create and participate in programs to support all facilities authorized within the coverage area of the assigned Health Care System (medical centers, vet centers, outpatient clinics, rehab centers, etc). Create and participate in community-based opportunities to serve active-duty service members, guard, reservists, and veterans. Prepare, plan, and run a monthly Soldiers' Angels Veteran Food Distribution. Communicate regularly with VA leadership, military, city and county leadership and other key personnel to network and increase services in the area. Proactively seek opportunities to provide program services to local area veterans. Develop thorough processes and procedures, documenting tasks from start to finish to ensure consistency of service delivery and to maximize cross-training. Develop relationships to assist in supporting and funding of assigned area's budget. Recruit, develop, train and mentor assigned interns and volunteers who support the local team. Benchmark and develop best practices for VA Voluntary Service Site Coordinators, VA Representatives, and other key volunteers. Ensures communication of projects and events. Actively work in the Soldiers' Angels database ensuring all field volunteers are properly reporting and operating according to the established policies. Develop community outreach programs for each assigned site's volunteer team to execute. Communicate stories, pictures, quotes, and team statistics to the Communications and Marketing department. Create a positive environment where two-way communication and strong trust is established.
REQUIRED MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in a related field, such as Business Management, Project Management, or Nonprofit Management preferred but not required. In lieu of requiring the forementioned degree, Soldiers' Angels, in its discretion, may determine that extensive, successful, and significant work experience in management or related areas (or that some combination of such work experience and college education) may be considered as the equivalent of a degree. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage and manage a wide range of projects, staff, and volunteers. Fundraising experience is required. Salesforce donor database experience is preferred, but not required. High energy and passion for Soldiers' Angels' mission is essential. Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention-to-detail. A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time. Computer proficiency, with expertise in Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
