Job Description

Fundraising Strategy & Planning Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and strategic Development Director to lead our fundraising and relationship-building efforts, driving the growth of our organization's mission. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and managing all fundraising and donor engagement activities for God's Storehouse. This position plays a key leadership role in securing financial support from individuals, faith communities, foundations, businesses, and community partners to sustain and expand the organization's mission to alleviate hunger in the Danville and Pittsylvania County communities. Your leadership will ensure sustainable revenue streams through innovative strategies, compelling proposals, and dynamic community outreach. The ideal candidate is passionate about nonprofit management, possesses exceptional relationship management skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment dedicated to making a meaningful impact. The Development Director works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, volunteers and the Marketing/Fund Raising committee to cultivate relationships, grow donor engagement, and develop strategies that ensure long-term financial sustainability. Duties Fundraising Strategy & Planning Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan. Identify and pursue diverse revenue sources including individual gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, and faith-based partnerships. Set and track fundraising goals and report progress to the Executive Director and Board. Donor Cultivation & Stewardship Build and maintain strong relationships with individual donors, foundations, businesses, and faith communities. Develop donor stewardship strategies to increase retention and giving levels. Oversee donor communications including acknowledgment letters, impact reports, and newsletters. Grant Writing & Management Research and pursue grant opportunities from foundations and community organizations. Write, submit, and manage grant proposals and reports. Maintain a grants calendar and compliance with reporting requirements. Events & Community Engagement Lead planning and execution of fundraising events and campaigns. Represent God's Storehouse at community events, faith communities, civic groups, and partner organizations. Increase visibility and awareness of the organization's mission. Marketing & Communications Collaborate with staff to develop marketing materials that highlight impact and encourage giving. Support storytelling efforts that communicate the organization's impact on hunger in the community. Work with staff or volunteers to manage digital fundraising campaigns and social media outreach. Board & Volunteer Collaboration Support the Board of Directors and fundraising committees in development initiatives. Recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with fundraising activities. Data & Reporting Maintain accurate donor records and fundraising databases. Track fundraising metrics and produce regular reports. Analyze giving trends to inform strategy and improve performance. Identify and pursue diverse revenue sources including individual gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, and faith-based partnerships. Set and track fundraising goals and report progress to the Executive Director and Board. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, or related field. 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or donor relations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to cultivate donor relationships and secure funding. Strong organizational, project management skills, and attention to detail. Preferred Grant writing experience with successful funding outcomes. Experience working with faith-based organizations or community nonprofits. Familiarity with donor management systems (CRM). Event planning or fundraising campaign experience. Organizational leadership and collaboration Passion for addressing hunger and serving vulnerable populations Working Conditions Occasional evening and weekend events. Local travel for donor meetings, community events, and partner engagement.
Pay:
$40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
