Full Job Description Summary/Purpose:
The Annual Diocesan Appeal Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond's fast growing annual fundraising campaign. This role leads and oversees all aspects of the Annual Diocesan Appeal which includes (but is not limited to) designing the Appeal timeline and materials, communicating key information to the parishes, composing all correspondence to key constituents, reporting results to key constituents, managing all internal administration of the Appeal, and working with Foundation staff members/vendors/lay leaders/clergy to ensure that all components for the Annual Diocesan Appeal are properly executed.

Director of Development and Operations Responsibilities:
1. Ensures that all Annual Diocesan Appeal goals and objectives outlined in the CCF's Strategic Plan are accomplished in the proper timeframe. 2. Develops and executes a comprehensive multi-channel Appeal plan (direct mail, digital, social media, and in-pew solicitations). 3. Manages all internal operations related to the successful execution of the Annual Diocesan Appeal process. 4. Establishes annual fundraising goals and benchmarks in collaboration with the Bishop of Richmond, Pastors Advisory Committee, CCF leadership and the Diocesan Finance Office. 5. Manages the coordination, development, and production timeline for all Appeal collateral, including brochures, pledge cards, promotional announcements, etc. 6. Serves as a consultant to pastors and parish business managers, providing them with the tools and data needed to reach their individual parish goals. 7. Conducts regional training workshops to inspire and equip pastors, parish staff members, and parish volunteers. 8. Develops "best practice" toolkits for parishes, including pulpit announcements, bulletin inserts, and social media templates. 9. Visits parishes throughout the year to develop relationships with pastors and parish staff members. 10. Works with the Director of Development of Operations on the administration of the Pastors Advisory Committee coordination process involving the Bishop of Richmond, Vicar General, priest committee members, and key Pastoral Center leaders. 11. Oversees the gift processing workflow to ensure high standards of accuracy and timely donor acknowledgment. 12. Manages the Annual Appeal's Bishop's Circle, a leadership giving society that provides special recognition and educational opportunities to donors who contribute $1,000+ to the Appeal. 13. Works with the CCF Marketing and Communications Manager on the development and execution of an Annual Diocesan Appeal Speakers Bureau. 14. Provides regular reports to the Bishop of Richmond and key staff members regarding Appeal progress. 15. Designs and implements plans to move donors to the next level in their giving, acquire new donors, and conserve lapsed donors. 16. Works with the Director of Development and Operations on the overall budget for the Appeal. 17. Drafts personalized acknowledgment letters and impact reports that demonstrate how Appeal funds are transforming lives within the Diocese. 18. Attends regional and national conferences to advance understanding of fundraising best practices. 19. Supports other fundraising activities as requested. 20. Performs other duties as assigned.
Performance Appraisal:
The Annual Diocesan Appeal Manager is appraised annually.
Working Conditions:
The position of Annual Diocesan Appeal Manager is a full-time position. The standard office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. however, office hours may vary weekly depending on special events and visits with parishes which may include evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
Light physical effort required. Regularly required to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, reach, bend, lift, listen, talk and perform computer keyboarding. May need to transport campaign materials. Prolonged periods of car traveling.
FLSA Classification:
Position is exempt from the overtime and timekeeping provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of demonstrated experience in fundraising for a charitable organization required. Experience conducting annual funds is preferred. 2. Ability to translate complex financial needs into compelling impact stories for lay audiences. 3. Proven track record of managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders. 4. Experience working with print/mail houses to ensure mail is sent accurately and cost-effectively. 5. Exceptional interpersonal, public speaking, written, and verbal communication skills. 6. Fundamental understanding of how an online giving platform works. 7. Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge is preferred. Strong computer skills are required. 8. Able to work independently and collaboratively and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Accurate, detail-oriented, dependable, and punctual. 9. Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred. 10. Must be able to travel regularly, serve in a full-time capacity, and be available as needed during nights and weekends. 11. A background in and appreciation of the Catholic Church and its teachings as well as nonprofit settings is preferred.
