For more information, visit www.jwcenter.org. Position Purpose The Development Director is responsible for leading and executing all fundraising and development activities as a department of one. This role blends strategy and execution, managing the full lifecycle of fundraising including individual giving, major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, events, and donor communications. The Development Director partners closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to maintain and grow Jubilee's funding base. While this role is highly independent, the Director is supported by external contractors (graphic design, grant writing, event production and communications) and an internal database manager who oversees gift processing and reporting. The Development Director serves as a key ambassador for Jubilee, representing the organization to donors, foundations, corporate partners, community stakeholders, volunteers, and the broader public. This role requires commitment to Jubilee's mission and the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-directed, entrepreneurial fundraiser who enjoys both high-level strategy and hands-on implementation. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Fundraising Strategy & Leadership Execute and grow an annual fundraising plan aligned with organizational goals and revenue targets. Manage and grow a diversified fundraising portfolio, including individual donors, foundations, corporations, and events. Establish and track key performance metrics; adjust strategies based on results. Adhere to ethical fundraising standards and donor stewardship best practices, fostering donor trust through transparency, accountability, and responsible use of charitable contributions. Grants & Institutional Giving Collaborate with contract grant writer to manage the full grant lifecycle (prospecting, application, reporting). Maintain a grants calendar and ensure timely submission of proposals and reports. Help shape case statements and funding proposals developed by the contract grant writer, Perform donor cultivation and relationship development tasks. Individual Giving & Major Gifts Manage a portfolio of qualified donors and prospects, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Design and implement donor engagement strategies to increase retention, growth, and acquisition. Partner with the Executive Director and Board to identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts. Support and coach leadership in donor relationship-building and solicitations. Conduct donor meetings, site visits, presentations, and cultivation activities to strengthen relationships and increase philanthropic support. Fundraising Events Serve as the central lead for two annual fundraising events: Jubilee Jazz Night (in partnership with an event production contractor) and The Luxe Sale. Develop and drive event strategy, including revenue goals, sponsorship development, donor engagement, and integration with broader fundraising efforts and campaigns. Coordinate cross-functional support (contractors, staff, and volunteers) to ensure seamless execution and a high-quality donor experience. Evaluate event performance against goals, analyze outcomes, and identify opportunities to increase revenue, engagement, and long-term donor value. Donor Stewardship & Operations Oversee Jubilee's volunteer and in-kind donation programs. Cultivate and manage relationships with corporate and other volunteer groups, coordinating volunteer engagement opportunities that support organizational programs, fundraising events, and community initiatives. Design and implement stewardship plans to ensure excellent donor experience. Partner with database manager on segmentation, reporting, and analysis. Use data insights to inform strategy and improve fundraising outcomes. Ensure timely donor acknowledgment and recognition. Partner with Board members and the Fundraising Committee to support fundraising efforts. Communications & Marketing Responsible for all fundraising-related communications, including appeals, newsletters, and donor impact reports. Collaborate with the communications contractor on content development and campaign execution. Ensure consistent messaging and strong case for support across all channels. Lead and oversee Jubilee's social media strategy in partnership with a communications contractor, ensuring content aligns with fundraising goals, brand voice, and donor engagement priorities. Collaborate on planning, creation, and performance tracking of digital content, using insights to strengthen audience engagement and support fundraising outcomes. Other duties, as assigned. Qualifications Required 5+ years of nonprofit fundraising or related experience Demonstrated success in meeting fundraising goals across multiple revenue streams Experience managing donor relationships, including major gifts Strong administrative and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work both strategically and tactically Preferred Experience working for human services organizations, especially in the homeless services and housing sectors. Experience as a sole fundraiser or in a small development shop. Familiarity with grant management and institutional fundraising. Experience developing corporate engagement strategies that include sponsorship, volunteerism, and employee engagement and giving programs. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, donor databases/CRMs Experience working with nonprofit boards. Ability to lift up to 30-50lbs, and transport in-kind donations, event materials, etc. Valid driver's license, reliable, insured vehicle, and ability to use personal car, as needed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong relationship-builder with high emotional intelligence. Organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-through. Highly self-motivated and entrepreneurial. Strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset. Comfortable working collaboratively with contractors and cross-functional partners.
