This position acts as a bridge between the collision repair industry and Tesla's engineering teams. As a subject matter expert in collision repair, you'll be creating collision repair procedures, reviewing technical documentation, and solving problems that have no current solutions. This role can sit in Austin, TX or Fremont, CA. What You'll Do Develop and present detailed collision repair procedures, acting as a subject matter expert during reviews with engineering teams and providing insights on crash simulation outcomes for repair implications Evaluate and provide guidance on technical documentation and global tooling requirements to enhance collision repair center operations Coordinate with engineering and supply chain teams to identify and assemble parts for the creation and revision of service parts, ensuring alignment with service needs and specifications Respond to field escalations from collision repair centers by offering expert advice and support to resolve complex repair issues promptly Analyze 3D models to assess repair feasibility, contributing to repair strategy development and decision-making processes Conduct hands-on investigations, laboratory tests, and validations to underpin repair technique efficacy and component reliability Manage multiple high-priority projects with effective time management skills, quickly adapt to evolving software tools, and adhere to Tesla's stringent safety protocols What You'll Bring Preferred vocational certificate in collision repair, with at least 5 years of industry experience in structural repair, and a strong preference for candidates with prior Tesla experience Comprehensive knowledge of collision repair industry practices, including the use of frame equipment, welding, riveting, and diagnostic systems, as well as proficiency with estimating platforms Excellent command of English, both in writing and speaking, ensuring clear communication and documentation of technical procedures and reports Advanced computer skills to support efficient workflow, data analysis, and presentation creation Strict adherence to confidentiality principles, safeguarding sensitive company and customer information Autonomous work ethic with the ability to deliver results in environments with limited supervision, demonstrating reliability and responsibility Flexibility to travel as needed for domestic and international business requirements, physical fitness to lift up to 50 lbs. and the ability to operate a forklift Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $88,000 - $193,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
