Economic Development Policy and Research Specialist

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County AmeriCorps VISTA Program strengthens local capacity to improve economic opportunity for low-income and underserved residents. This position supports the Economic Development Department by developing sustainable systems for policy research, data analysis, and program evaluation. The VISTA member will develop and maintain datasets related to economic indicators, including small business activity, housing development, and investment trends. They will create standardized tools and frameworks to support policy analysis and comparison with peer communities. These efforts will help inform decision-making and improve the effectiveness of economic development initiatives. The member will also support housing and land use strategy development by researching best practices and developing tools to streamline development processes. In addition, the VISTA will assist in building systems for tracking program outcomes and supporting reporting processes. By strengthening systems for data analysis, policy development, and program evaluation, this project will improve the county's ability to support small businesses, housing development, and economic growth. These efforts will increase access to economic opportunities and resources that support greater economic stability.

Member Duties :

The AmeriCorps VISTA member will develop and support systems for economic data analysis, policy research, and program tracking. The member will build datasets, create tools for benchmarking and analysis, and assist in developing reports and recommendations. They will support systems for tracking economic development outcomes and improving reporting processes. The VISTA will also research best practices related to housing and economic development and create tools to support planning efforts. These activities will strengthen data systems and improve access to economic opportunities for underserved residents.
