Fixed Asset Accountant Contract Hybrid Overland Park KS 50-55/hr

CPA or CPA Track Vistapoint ERP We are seeking a detail-oriented and process-driven Fixed Assets Accountant to support and enhance fixed asset accounting across multiple operating entities. This role will play a key part in building and standardizing the infrastructure, policies, and procedures for tracking, reporting, and maintaining fixed asset data. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, advanced Excel skills, and experience working in multi-entity, project-based environments , with preference for VistaPoint ERP experience . Key Responsibilities Fixed Assets Accounting & Management Maintain and manage the fixed asset subledger across multiple entities Record asset additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation in accordance with GAAP Perform and review monthly depreciation calculations and reconciliations Ensure proper classification between capital expenditures and operating expenses Process & Infrastructure Development Design and implement standardized processes and procedures for capturing and tracking fixed asset data across operating companies Establish controls around asset capitalization, tagging, tracking, and retirement Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, AP) to ensure accurate and timely asset data capture Build scalable frameworks to support company growth and acquisitions Multi-Entity Asset Oversight Coordinate fixed asset accounting across several operating entities , ensuring consistency in treatment and reporting Maintain intercompany alignment on asset policies and capitalization thresholds Support entity-level and consolidated reporting requirements Reconciliations & Reporting Reconcile fixed asset subledger to the general ledger on a monthly basis Prepare fixed asset schedules for internal reporting and audits Analyze asset activity and trends, providing insights to leadership Support budgeting and forecasting related to capital expenditures Systems & Data Management Utilize VistaPoint ERP (or similar system) for asset tracking and reporting Develop and maintain advanced Excel models for asset tracking, rollforwards, and analysis Identify opportunities to improve automation, reporting accuracy, and efficiency Audit & Compliance Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and schedules Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company capitalization policies Maintain audit-ready documentation for all fixed asset activity Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 4-7+ years of accounting experience , with a focus on fixed assets or general ledger Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting and GAAP principles Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis) Experience working in a multi-entity environment Preferred Experience with VistaPoint ERP (highly preferred) or similar systems Background in engineering, construction, infrastructure, or project-based industries CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred Experience building or improving accounting processes and internal controls Key Competencies Strong attention to detail and data accuracy Process-oriented mindset with a focus on scalability and control Analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders Strong organizational and time management skills
