Substance Use Prevention Specialist America's Community Council - 4.5 Detroit, MI Job Details 6 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description The Prevention Specialist will prevent/reduce SUD amongst members of our target population residing in Oakland and Wayne county. Prevention Specialist will apply a multi-strategy approach. They will educate members of the target population, specifically youth on the dangers associated with ATOD, SUD and help them develop the life and family skills to make healthy choices and build a strong family foundation. They will build strong partnerships with local prevention coalitions and other youth and family serving entities in an effort to provide a greater impact on substance use in the target population.
Duties:
Working with youth and families in all aspects of the project. Establishing and maintaining community-based contacts according to proposed project objectives, as well as identifying new community resources. Maintaining curricula fidelity and program activity timelines. Serving as facilitator/leader for program sessions. Utilizing evaluation tools to gauge program effectiveness. Gathering and analyzing appropriate process and evaluation data. Submitting all reports in a timely manner as required by contract standards. Working closely with Quality Assurance Committee and other community volunteers. Fulfilling all other tasks necessary to ensure program success. Perform all related duties as assigned. Regularly attend prevention related trainings to enhance skills and work towards CPS certification. Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent. Associates or Bachelor's Degree in liberal arts/social work/education or a related field preferred. CPS/CPC certification or Development Plan on file with MCBAP required, and/or Specialty Focused Programming training in Life Skills etc. One year of experience working with youth preferred. Arabic and/or Chaldean language fluency preferred, not a requirement.
