Job Description

Family Development Specialist Location:
Northside Family Center - Pittsburgh, PA Providence Connections is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Development Specialist to support families with young children at the Northside Family Center. This full-time role (On-site) is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with parents, caregivers, and children and wants to make a positive difference in the community. The Family Development Specialist provides relationship-centered, strengths-based support to families with children ages 0-5. This position helps families set goals, access resources, build parenting skills, and connect with services that support stability, growth, and child development.
Key Responsibilities:
Build strong and supportive relationships with families. Conduct monthly family check-ins and assist with goal-setting and progress plans. Support parenting skills and child development knowledge. Provide advocacy, referrals, and hands-on support to families. Deliver concrete goods such as diapers, food, and clothing when needed. Conduct child development screenings every six months for children ages 0-5. Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including case notes and family records. Assist families with housing referrals, mental health referrals, transportation needs, and access to Northside Family Center programs. Participate in case management meetings, team meetings, and required trainings. Support family-centered activities, including holiday events, Family Fun Nights, and community gatherings. Help recruit and maintain a caseload of at least 50 families.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field required. Experience using a strengths-based approach in family or community services preferred. Knowledge of Allegheny County social service systems preferred. Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills. Compassionate, culturally aware, and non-judgmental approach to working with families. Ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Comfortable managing a high caseload with diverse family needs. One evening per week, one Saturday per month, and additional evening or weekend hours as needed for meetings, community events, and organizational activities.

$20.00 per hour
