FLSA Status:
Exempt The General Manager serves as the senior leader of an assigned Club site and is responsible for the overall safety, culture, membership growth, program quality, facility operations, community partnerships, staff development, and financial stewardship of the Club. The General Manager provides both strategic leadership and hands-on operational oversight to ensure a high-quality experience for youth, families, staff, volunteers, and community partners. This role is accountable for achieving organizational goals related to membership, attendance, program quality, safety, staff retention, facility management, community engagement, and operational excellence. Working in partnership with the Director of Club Operations, the General Manager develops staff, builds community relationships, manages resources, and ensures consistent execution of organizational priorities while maintaining a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment for youth. Safety Leadership Maintains a physically and emotionally safe environment through proactive supervision, sound judgment, risk management, and adherence to organizational safety standards. Accountability Demonstrates ownership of results, follows through on commitments in a timely manner, and holds self and others accountable to organizational expectations. Courageous Communication Approaches difficult conversations with professionalism, empathy, clarity, and accountability. Addresses performance concerns, behavioral issues, parent concerns, conflict, and sensitive situations directly while preserving relationships and maintaining organizational standards. Relationship Building Builds trust and positive relationships with youth, families, staff, volunteers, school personnel, donors, and community partners. Strategic Thinking Utilizes data, trends, and organizational priorities to drive decision-making and continuous improvement. Talent Development Develops, coaches, and retains high-performing staff while building future leaders. Operational Excellence Creates systems that drive consistency, efficiency, quality, and sustainability. Community Leadership Serves as an ambassador for the Club and builds partnerships that expand opportunities for youth and families. Contribute to environment of safety through the learning and implementation and monitoring of all safety-related best practices, policies, and procedures. Promote accountability to safety through consistent observation, adherence to all safety rules and practices and proactive communication among members, parents, peers, and leadership. Obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter training and complete annual Child Abuse Prevention training. Be trained and understand school district Emergency Response procedures and ensure the consistent execution of Emergency Preparedness protocols across all school sites, including drills and communication practices .

Lead implementation of organizational priorities at the Club level. Establish systems that support safety, quality, consistency, and operational excellence. Support recruitment events, tours, and outreach efforts. Oversee implementation of high-quality youth development programs aligned with organizational standards. Spend a meaningful portion of each program day observing programming, staff performance, and member engagement. Provide real-time coaching and feedback to staff and the Program Manager. Ensure implementation of organizational program standards and best practices. Utilize observations, assessments, and data to drive improvement. Monitor member outcomes and engagement. Support implementation of new initiatives and evaluate effectiveness through data and feedback. Talent Development & Culture Recruit, onboard, develop, and retain high-performing staff. Supervise and support the Program Manager and all site personnel. Conduct coaching conversations, performance evaluations, and development planning. Build leadership capacity throughout the site team. Create succession plans for key positions. Model and reinforce Blue Culture expectations. Foster a positive, accountable, and solutions-oriented team environment. Recognize and celebrate staff contributions and achievements. Conduct critical conversations with staff regarding performance, conduct, attendance, accountability, and organizational expectations. Address conflict and performance concerns promptly and professionally. Deliver clear, actionable feedback that promotes growth and accountability. Support employees through challenging situations while maintaining organizational standards. Facilitate productive conversations that strengthen trust, communication, and team effectiveness. Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming Club environment. Conduct routine inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and presentation standards are met. Oversee maintenance, janitorial, and facility service providers. Ensure equipment, furniture, technology, and infrastructure are maintained and operational. Manage facility utilization and space planning. Support facility improvement and capital project initiatives. Maintain environments that reflect organizational standards and community expectations. Manage site resources responsibly and efficiently. Participate in budget planning and financial oversight. Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for efficiency. Maintain accurate inventory and asset management systems. Ensure responsible stewardship of supplies, equipment, technology, and organizational assets. Support fundraising, sponsorship, and donor engagement efforts as assigned. Foster positive relationships with parents and guardians. Address parent and family concerns professionally, empathetically, and in a timely manner. Serve as the primary escalation point for family concerns and conflict resolution. Balance strong customer service with consistent enforcement of organizational policies and expectations. Promote participation in Club programs and events. Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all families. Serve as the primary ambassador for the Club within the community. Develop relationships with schools, businesses, civic leaders, donors, and community organizations. Build partnerships that expand opportunities for youth and families. Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and public functions. Support volunteer engagement and community involvement initiatives. Strengthen the Club's visibility, reputation, and community impact. Ensure reports, compliance requirements, payroll, attendance records, and operational responsibilities are completed accurately and on time. Maintain organizational standards related to safety, staffing, facilities, and programming. Monitor key performance indicators and implement improvement plans when needed. Utilize organizational systems and resources effectively. Escalate concerns appropriately and in a timely manner. Ensure consistent implementation of organizational policies, procedures, and standard operating practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered. Minimum three years of progressively responsible leadership experience in youth development, nonprofit management, education, recreation, or related fields. Demonstrated experience supervising and developing staff. Demonstrated success navigating difficult conversations involving employee performance, parent concerns, conflict resolution, behavioral incidents, and organizational accountability. Strong conflict resolution and relationship management skills. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Experience managing budgets, operations, facilities, or community partnerships preferred. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Office 365 and organizational systems. Must report suspected child abuse in accordance with California law. CPR and First Aid Certification preferred or will be facilitated upon hire. Valid TB clearance and successful completion of organizational screening requirements. Physical Requirements:
This position may require the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, or reach as needed, and to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs. Employees must have the dexterity, coordination, vision, and hearing necessary to perform job tasks safely and accurately.
