Job Description

VP of Transportation Department:
Transportation (cross-functional with Project TeamsServices) Reports to:
CEO Location:
Irvine, CA |
Type:
Full-Time At EPD Solutions, we don't believe environmental analysis, land use planning, and entitlement work belong in separate silos - and neither should transportation. We're an integrated planning, environmental, and development consulting firm based in Irvine, CA, working with public and private sector clients to bring complex projects to life, from small infill sites to large-scale commercial, industrial, and residential developments. We're looking for a Vice President of Transportation to lead the next chapter of our Transportation Planning and Engineering practice - someone who sees this not as a service line to manage, but as a market position to win. This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership seat with real influence: shaping strategy, building the client relationships that define a practice's reputation, and leading the pursuits that put EPD's name on the region's most significant transportation projects. What You'll Do The Vice President of Transportation provides strategic leadership for EPD's Transportation Planning and Engineering practice, driving its growth, financial performance, and market presence. This role is responsible for refining and executing the vision for the practice, building strong client relationships, developing business opportunities, and ensuring the successful delivery of strategic initiatives. Creative strategy development for the Transportation practice's financial health, business development, and proposal execution comes first, followed by complex problem-solving on high-impact client/agency engagements - all in service of strengthening EPD's overall transportation practice reputation. Lead the overall strategy, growth, and performance of the Transportation service line. Drive business development and expand relationships with public and private sector clients. Lead major pursuits and position EPD to win strategic transportation projects. Build and maintain executive-level client and industry relationships. Achieve annual revenue, profitability, and growth objectives. Represent EPD and enhance the firm's reputation through industry leadership and market engagement. Foster a culture of strategic thinking, accountability, and continuous improvement. What You Bring PE or TE licensure (Civil/Traffic) required. AICP certification or urban/community planning knowledge desired but not required. 12+ years of progressive experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, or related transportation consulting, with visible wins on significant pursuits. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or related field required; advanced degree a plus. Credibility with agencies, public clients, and industry peers; strong written and verbal advocacy in client presentations, agency hearings, and public meetings. Demonstrated track record of leading business development efforts, including proposal management and client relationship development in a transportation consulting environment. Experience managing and developing professional teams, including direct management of mid-level managers or senior technical staff. Proven mentor who can develop technical and business development capability in others without direct management authority. Strong familiarity with transportation analysis methodologies including LOS, VMT, signal timing, and traffic impact analysis within the
