We produce prototypes, low-volume production parts, and technically challenging machined components. Quixik works closely with Czero, an engineering and product-development company. This relationship gives Quixik access to experienced engineers and creates opportunities to support projects from engineering and design through fabrication and machining. We are looking for a Machine Shop General Manager who wants to run and grow the business. The ideal candidate is an experienced machinist who understands CNC machining, CNC programming tooling, fixturing, estimating, scheduling, and quality—but who is also excited about customers, financial performance, employees, business development, and building a successful organization. For the right person, we are also open to creative compensation structures that provide an opportunity to earn an ownership interest in the business over time. We want someone who is interested not only in managing Quixik, but potentially in helping build its long-term value and participating in that success. The Role The General Manager will have primary responsibility for the performance of the machine shop, including operations, employees, customers, quoting, scheduling, quality, ISO 9001 compliance, and profitability. We want someone who will approach the shop with an owner's mentality: understanding what drives the business, identifying problems and opportunities, making good decisions, and continually improving the operation. Because Quixik is a small and growing shop, this is also a hands-on working position. The General Manager will be expected to spend a meaningful portion of their time programming, setting up, and/or operating CNC equipment in addition to managing the business. The exact balance between management and machining will vary depending on workload and the needs of the shop. The right person will be equally comfortable reviewing financial performance or talking with a customer in the morning and programming, setting up, troubleshooting, or running a machine later in the day. As the business grows, we expect the role to become increasingly focused on management and leadership, but strong hands-on participation in shop operations will be an important part of the position, particularly in the near term.
